For some weird reason, right when I'm about to go to bed, my cat loves to come up to me, smell my arm, wrap himself around my arm, stab his claws into me and starts biting and scratching me with his hind legs like crazy. I push him off, and he just stares at me, his tail goes crazy, and he pounches at my arms again. It's really really annoying, and I'm tired of getting new bloody scratches every night. Anybody know why he does this??? He only does it to me, only to my arms, and he does it at night when I'm about to go to bed. I keep pushing him away, and he just keeps doing it. Declawing is wrong, but he's really pushing it!!!

I'm going to try the soft paws. I always play with him, it's just when I'm about to go to sleep he does that. I did trim his nails, so even with trimmed nails he leaves me scratches. Annnnd if I spray him with water, he wouldn't mind the water, lol. Plus, I did that whole hissing and growling thing to him a few times. It worked once or twice, but he's immuned to it, lol.

Thanks for the answers.
I swear to God he's crazy, lol. I feel bad cuz he might take it as a game, but its an annoying one, lol. He doesn't do it out of anger. He doesnt' growl or hiss at me or anything. He just pops out of nowhere. Then at night when he's done, he comes up to me, and plops next to my shoulder and sleeps there with his head on my shoulder for the rest of the night. Why can't he only do that???? lol

It sounds like he is being playfull, but he is also being very rough. you will have to be firm with him, he should not get away with bad behavior like this. I would firmly grab the skin on the back of his neck and flick him hard on the nose, then drop him off the bed every time he does this to you. You could get an infection if you keep letting him do this to you! He might also be trying to dominate you but aether way this should help fix this problem. Remember the bed is YOURS not his, don't let him take control. But be sure to praise him and rub him in his favorite spot when he is being a good kitty. I love to share my bed with my cats but I make the rules, and they know it!
I also agree that declawing is wrong

Your cat loves you, he wants to play. For some reason he has decided that bedtime is the best time to get you in one place and to start his routine. The biting and the scratching is all a part of play for a cat. he is treating you just like he would another cat. You are his replacement for a mate. Maybe you should get another cat, your cat obviously needs a lot of attention. he isn't doing anything that is mean or trying to upset you, just the opposite, he is having a ball, and the more you push him away the more he is going to come at you and think you are playing. Seems weird that the water gun doesn't work, that's usually a sure cure, but not for all cats. Some don't mind water, I had one who took a shower with me at times, who knows what lurks in the minds of a cat. They are the strangest animals that can own us. And I couldn't live without one. you aren't the only one with the problem you have. My cat does a bit of the same, but ends up finally falling asleep on my head, not great as I have trouble breathing anyway. That cat is older, so she has been declawed, but believe me, the back claws can do just as much damage. My other cat with a full set of claws does a lot less damage to my body. What can I say, try and keep the cat out of your bedroom, probably not work. probably he will cry and cry as he is used to being in your room. Wear body armor to bed, not too comfortable. I do believe that there is something that you can put at the ends of the cat's claws, it's done at the vet, and it's like a plastic coating or like nail polish that keeps the cat from having such sharp nails.
But truly, I think you might be better off getting a playmate for the nutcase (said in a nice way, please understand). I know mine are just so much happier having each other to attack and they do leave us alone a bit more then when they are seperated. I wish you all the best of luck. But don't get him declawed. he'll just find something else to do to annoy you.

that is truly common for cats. unlike dogs, cats desire a clean, operating water source. imagine "cool mountain streams". you've some ideas on your kitty to stop waking you up at evening. First, attempt the puppy save. seek for a plug-in or battery-operated water fountain. various cats gained't drink from a bowl, so businesses began making fountains for them. They run about $70 around the following. 2d, flow to a present keep and purchase a table-genuine fountain. you recognize, those with the rocks in them and they are meant to be calming and soothing? those many times run about $40. only be sure you regulate the water in various cases and substances the fountain a reliable cleansing! in the different case, you'd be getting as a lot as exhibit the tap on besides.

My cats play, but not too roughly, because when they start to get rough, I quit playing/moving and say "owww" - when he does it, try that and then roll over and cover up with the blanket. If he stops (even momentarily) with the "owww" then tell him he's good. It might take awhile. It sounds more like a habit that he's gotten used to a nightly ritual before settling down and going to sleep - it'll take awhile to replace it with a different habit. From his point of view, he definitely gets attention. Remove the attention, not yelling or spanking, just "no, owww" and roll over and ignore him. Good luck.

Get a squirt bottle, fill it with water, keep it on the stream setting and when your cat comes near you at his special time shoot him once in the face. He'll back off after a couple of times. After a while, he will only need to see the squirt bottle to stop what he is doing.
Cats are trained by association. If he associates attacking you with being squirted he will back off. You can use this technique to sharpening their claws on your furniture, getting on counters, lots of stuff.

When he does that (or anything you find annoying) just hiss at him really loud... even growl. Works with every cat that I have ever had. Works with my two now when they try to wake me up too early. Just go: "pssssstttt... grohhhwl." Kitty will take cover.

Yep, you're cat is definitely being playful. Trust me, I have had almost ten cats in my life. What your cat wants to do it play-fight. put on a glove and fight with him for like 5 minutes (it's soooooooooooooooooooooooo fun) and he'll just run away when he's had enough.

I would not hesitate to spank his butt (on the side though, not directly on his back). He needs a little jolt to let him know this is unacceptable and to feel a little of your pain! Maybe he's rebelling because he doesn't want you to go to bed because he misses you?? Or maybe this is just the time of day when he starts to get rambunxious or maybe a smell on you or your clothes. my cat does that too, but when i ignore her, shell stop and get under the covers and sleep..
my arms were also bloody and scratched.. but i went to the local pet store and they had theese things that go over their claws..
like little gel caps.. they work great.. they fall off on thier own, and they are totally safe.. when we put them on nova for the first time, she kept on bouncing off the couch, cause she couldnt grab on.. but each application lasts about 3 weeks... and you get 4 applications for like 17.00.hope this helped
