Treadmill is a cardiovascular machine. What that means is that it increases the rate at which your heart pumps blood through your body. Also it increases your lung capacity. What people use it most for is weight loss. This is because it is a fast way to burn more calories than you do in your everyday life. Depending on the speed that you use you will see differing results in the amount of weight that is lost in a given period of time. The faster that you go the calories you will burn. That's because your body must use more calories to maintain the high level of activity and it most use more calories to recover from the exercise after it is done. Well, it doesnt do anything for your body.. YOU are the one that changes your body.. the treadmill is just a way to help you out! ;) If you use it every day or at least 5 times a week for at least 40 minutes on a fast speed walk you will notice that is will become easier and easier to do because your doing a good cardio workout.. You will notice that you will need to go on it longer and faster or more of an incline to notice the results. Its a great way to help you stay healthy and in shape.. but you gotta do all the work. ;) good luck and take care.

Walking, jogging, and/or running is a great working for the large muscles in your legs.
What my wife & I like about it is that we can get some good excercise in within a controled enviornment...our home. No matter the weather outside, you have no excuse to not use it!
An extra benifit for me is that before we had one, my wife would at times run alone in our neighborhood, sometimes early, sometimes late. I feel much more comfortable knowing she is safe at home.
Keep in mind that you can get a great workout on a treadmil by RAISING the incline and DECREASING the speed. This is great if your joints are hurting or whatever.

It is an idle piece of furniture that gives me a great place to hang up the clothes I will be wearing tomorrow. Then those clothes are wrinkle free and make my body look great.

They build up strength in you legs after having an injury. I guess they are suppose to help build your stomach mussels too. But walking will help to do that too.

If you run or walk on it, it's mostly cardio. If you just look at it, not much. They don't talk or anything.
