what is the process in which a criminal defendant is entered into the criminal justice system in Georgia? This person does not speak very much English.

I'm not quite sure exactly what you are asking. If you are asking how do we process criminals that do not speak English well (i.e. language barrier), then we normally will try to locate someone to interpret for us. Whether it be an officer that is fluent enough in the language needed, a relative or friend, or an interpreter that is hired through the department. We have even used other inmates in the jail to translate if needed.


Now, to venture on your entering into the criminal justice system, if a crime is a fingerprintable offense, then the information on the fingerprint card (suspect info and charges) are then entered into the system, but with no adjudication listed until the case has been through court. For traffic or minor citations, those will fall under that person's driver's license history. If that person does not have a license number, then the state will assign that person a license number.

They will hold them in jail if they can't post bail until the hearing. Usually they plead guilty and get a smack on the wrist.
