there ARE known home remedies. contact my by email and ill tell you what worked for us!! my pup survived parvo and distemper and was treated at home! antibiotics will only help with secondary infection, not kill the parvo itself. it will also kill good bacteria in intestinal tract! please email me and i will tell you the things that worked for us! dont listen to those "smart guys" i asked the same questions and they told me mine was going to die.

First, without seeing the veterinarian, you cannot be 100% sure that he has parvo.
If he does, the only thing you can do at home is to try to keep him hydrated. Encourage him to drink, try cold water, warm water, Pedialyte, or add some corn syrup or sugar to the water, anything to get him to drink. He will make a horrible mess with bloody diarrhea everywhere so keep him in a small, easy-to-clean area and do NOT allow ANY dogs especially puppies where he has been. Parvovirus can actually survive over a year in the environment. Bleach is the only thing that will destroy it, so bleach all areas repeatedly (no guarantee, especially on porous surfaces or outdoors!). Keep him warm, with warm blankets, out of drafty areas.
However, the best thing to do is to take him to the vet. Even with proper hospitalization (IV fluids with electrolytes and dextrose added, medication to help stop the vomiting and diarrhea, incubator if necessary to keep him warm, etc.) some pups don't survive. With home care, his chances are fair to poor.
If you cannot afford proper veterinary care (all his puppy vaccinations, neutering, yearly vet checkups and vaccinations, not to mention emergencies such as this one) please consider signing the pup over to a clinic who can care for him, and then when he is well they can find him a new home.

p.s. to freelee: the cause of parvo has long been known: it is caused by a virus. This is why it can be vaccinated against. The vaccine for parvovirus is given with other vaccines at 6, 10, and 14 weeks of age, or some variation of that. Then a yearly booster is given.

If he truely has Parvovirus then NO home remedy will help - must be taken to a vet IMMEDIATELY as this disease has an extremely high mortality rate and you will need to clean your entire house with a viralcidal wash or else risk reinfecting the pup or anyother pup that comes into the house. You also need to make sure the shoes you have been wearing do not get worm outside the house or else you risk spreading the disease to other dogs that go where you have walked. This is an extremely serious disease.

The first thing you should do is contact a vet and get him diagnosed. When a puppy has parvo, they go off food and water, dehydrate, and could possibly die. By 10 weeks of age, he should have had his first set of shots for parvo. They usually carry their mothers immunity until they are 9 weeks of age.

The only you can do, is use a syringe to force liquid into him until you can get him into a vet.

he's right if you leave him with the vet in will costs hundreds of dollars and that's the only chance he has. their intestines are infected probably from eating puppy poop but no one knows for sure what the cause of Parvo is. but it's a killer of young and old dogs. If the vet will keep him on antiobiotiacs and fluids he might get past this. How many days is he into the disease? If it's two or three, he's a goner! So sorry, but put him down and get a new puppy from somewhere reputable and clean.

There has already been a lot of answers, but I also wanted to let you know steps you could take to help prevent it from spreading. You need to make a water/bleach solution and use it to wipe down/mop everything in the house - floors, counters, cabinets, everything. Launder all of your clothes/bedding. Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray your carpets, furniture, all soft goods that can't be laundered.

You'll also want to spray down your yard. You can do a light spray a couple times through the day to make sure you get all of the area.

Parvo is extremely contagious and can stay in the soil for years. This will help prevent it spreading to any other dogs, yours or friends. If you have any friends, let them know too. It can take a couple of days for the symptoms to appear.

There are no home remedies for Parvo. If your puppy has parvo you have 24-48 hours to get him treated. Even at best, when they start vomiting you are down to 50/50 your puppy will make it. And it takes 9 months for the bacteria to die in your home so you can not introduce a new puppy to your home.

You need to take the dog to a vet NOW if you want to have any hope of your dog making it. Don't try and treat the dog yourself and on't wait until tomorrow morning. Parvo is almost always deadly, and you still could lose the poor pup. I'm sorry.

There are no known home remedies, you need to take him to the vet ASAP, I had a puppy who had parvo, i took him to the vet and on our way home just as we pulled up, he died in my arms, All you can do is take him/her to the vet, PRAY alot, and hopefully he will get past it. When he does, make sure to disinfect with Clorox, I hope this helped, and as an animal lover my prayers are with you

There are no home remedies for parvo. Other than electrolye solutions to try and keep the pup hydrated. You need to get your pup in to the vet immediately. Parvo is serious and deadly. Has your pup not received any vaccinations for parvo?

Parvo kills most dogs but you still have hope.Keep antibiotics, water, and food down him.Lots of liquids. If you got the money giving your dog some pedilite mixed with the water for it to drink. It would be best if you had someone there to take care of him constantly.Pet him and help him rest throught the day.Talk to him and encourage him to keep fighting against it.
