it is stated in the Qur'an
"O you believers! Intoxicating drinks, gambling, fortune telling, etc. is the hated work of the devil. So stay away from all of that horrible stuff, that you will be successful."
"The devil only wants to create hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks, etc.) and gambling and to keep you from the remembrance of Allah and from your proper worship (prayers). So, why won't you away from them?"
[Holy Quran 5:90-91]
most people during the coming of these verses, drank alcohol without concern for their health or for their altered behavior while intoxicated. Many of them were alcoholics.
In today's world there is little need to present long discussions on the evil and dangers of drinking alcohol. Besides causing diseases and ruining a person's health, alcohol is often attributed to be the cause of many traffic accidents resulting in property damage, injuries and deaths. The first order was for the followers of Muhammad, peace be upon him, to leave off drinking while engaged in worship, then came stronger orders to leave drinking all together. Thus, offering a time for the early Muslims to break off from their addiction to strong drink.

For that matter, why shouldn't Mormons or Southern Baptists?
It seems to me a fairly harmless, and possibly a beneficial prohibition.
Surely you can agree that religion has done much worse than this when it had the chance.

Coz beer will make u drunk, and while you drunk, all of your common sense will gone and you'll lose control of yourself and you will do such a bad thing to you and other people.
Besides in Qur'an and Hadist there's a restriction for muslims to drink such as beer, vodka, alkohol and many more.

the common ruling on nutrition and drink is that issues are halaal, different than for those that are incredibly defined in sharee’ah as being haraam, alongside with alcoholic beverages. If the drink includes any intoxicating substance, this is haraam. in this foundation this is asserted that beer (a drink produced from barley), in spite of if this is intoxicating while inebriated in super quantities, then it is not permissible to drink it. It replaced into mentioned that the Prophet (peace and advantages of ALLAAH be upon him) mentioned: “each intoxicating substance is haraam.” (Narrated by ability of al-Bukhaari, al-Ahkaam, 6637) And it replaced into narrated that ‘Aa’ishah mentioned: “The Messenger of ALLAAH (peace and advantages of ALLAAH be upon him) mentioned: ‘each intoxicating substance is haraam, and in spite of intoxicates in super quantities, a handful of this is haraam.’” (Narrated by ability of al-Tirmidhi, al-Ashribah, 1789; classed as saheeh by ability of al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 1521). Al-Teebi mentioned: “ ‘a handful of it’ is an expression which ability a small quantity.” And ALLAAH is conscious desirable. Islam Q&A Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid (as quickly as we visited Saudi final summer I had MOUSSY for the 1st time... it replaced into very sturdy!! *smile*)

because alcohol intoxicates you
and takes away your common sense..don't try to prove this wrong
because i been around people who drink ( i haven't..and i never will) and i have seen many TV shows that prove this.
When you cant think straight you cant make right decisions and many things will probably happen that you will regret.
plus you can harm yourself and others.

They might spill it while they're suicide bombing.
Ok, ok that was horrible. Sorry!
Its for the same reason Christians don't support pre-maritial sex, for example. Its just considered immoral.
Of course, who knows how many Muslims might not follow that so strictly.
