I'm only 14 and if I barely fall or hit something I get a bruise. What does this mean? Am I missing a certain vitamin or something?

Vitamin C deficiency sweetie. Try eating more Vitamin C rich foods ie:-Citrus fruits, berries, green and leafy vegies, tomatoes, cantaloupe, cauliflower, potatoes and peppers.

Vitamin C will heal wounds, burns and bleeding gums, heps in the body's absorption of iron and it plays a primary role in the formation of collagen, which is important for the growth and repair of body-tissue cells, gums, blood vessels, bones and teeth.

Rose hips tea is a really yummy way to increase your Vitamin C intake. Rose hips vitamin C contains bioflavonoids and other enzymes that help C assimilate (absorb into your body). They are the richest natural source of Vitamin C. (The C is actually manufactured under the bud of the rose - called a hip.)

More Vitamin P rich foods also ie:- The white skin and segment part of citrus fruit - lemons, oranges, grapefruit. Also in apricots, buckwheat, blackberries, cherries and rose hips.

Vitamin P will prevent vitamin C from being destroyed by oxidation, strengthen the walls of capillaries, thereby preventing bruising and help build resistance to infection. It also increases the effectiveness of vitamin C.

Another Vitamin C deficiency sign is nose bleeds ???

PEACE

Vitamin C deficiency is common today (junk food diets!) and causes easy bruising. Vitamin K deficiency also causes bruising, but this is a more complex issue because Vitamin K is found in green, leafy vegetables and is produced by commensal (healthy) bacteria in the gut. A really poor diet, and/or use of antibiotics could cause Vitamin K deficiency.

Less common, but more serious causes of easy bruising include liver diseases and leukemias.

You may want to see a nutrition-oriented healthcare professional to help you sort out the cause of your problem.

Best wishes and good luck.

Bruising is the body's normal response to local trauma or damage. Local bruising needs investigation to diagnose and treat the underlying cause of the bruising. Certain medical conditions such as bleeding disorders can also lead to more generalized or excessive bruising. People with these conditions bruise easily and more than normal. Some possibilities include hemophilia (genetic disease) and the lesser known and often undiagnosed Von Willebrand's disease. Any unexplained bruising needs medical investigation.

Causes for brusing can include
Injury
Normal child play - every child gets bumps and bruises.
Accident
Falls
Physical abuse
Causes of bruising easily or widespread bruising include:
Bleeding disorders
Hemophilia
Von Willebrand's disease
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
Immune disorder
Leukemia
Aplastic anemia
Disseminated intravascular coagulation
Scurvy
Blood vessel hemorrhage

Try drinking more water. I know that sounds weird but it helps. When I don't drink enough water I bruise crazy easily. If this doesn't help, you might want to go see a doctor, just to be on the safe side.
