My sweet pilot love is a Republican. I'm a staunch Democrat and have been all my life. I hate Bush and I'm very pro-choice.

When my darling said "Reagan was the greatest president of modern times," I cringed (hopefully not visibly). I excused myself to go to the ladies' room, then came back and said, "I know that he certainly said some impressive things, like 'Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!' it made our country look good, which is an important role for the president." I'm willing to try to see his point of view. I admire his mind and adore him so...

Anyway, he said something the other night that implied that he might not be pro-choice. I said, "I believe abortion is a necessary evil," then fell asleep, but it's been bothering me. I'm afraid that would be a horrible point of contention between us! I'm almost afraid to even ask him. Should I avoid the topic and hope it never comes up?

Put aside the petty and ask yourself if any of that really matters. My wife and I disagree on most issues, but in a way that we can both debate the issues and learn from each other's stand point without arguing. People with different views can have a great relationship so long as they don't let politics interfere with their emotions.
