Yes, my mom has osteoarthritis of the knee and takes glucosamine supplements regularly, as recommended by her doctor. It has helped her a great deal, and I assume it would do the same for others with an arthritis-related issue. It's probably best to ask your physician or pharmacist to get a professional opinion on the matter. Take care.

I am 24 years old and have been taking suppliments like Glucosamine for 4 years now. I had double knee surgery in 2003. And I think they work to a particular point. They aren't going to make you good as new, but they do relieve some pain and after 6 months to a year, I could tell they were doing some good.

You're going to think I'm nuts, but listen up. My Granny who is 75 and has had knee problems all her life aswell lives by this. And for the last 3 months I've done the same. And I swear I can tell more of a difference with this than anything else.

In a small tupperware bowl or one of he sorts with a lid, pour white raisens into it. Make sure they are white raisens and not the black ones. Then pour Gin in the bowl. Just enough to cover the raisens. Cover and keep on the counter. Everyday, take about a tablespoon of the raisens and gin. When you run out, just make it again. There is a reaction between the raisens and the gin. Not sure why, but it really helps with arthritis and other knee pain. Don't take heaping spoonfulls, but enough to cover the spoon. I take a tablespoon every morning. There's not enough gin per spoon to do anything so don't worry about that.

I swear this works. When my granny ran out of gin for a week or so, she said that her knees got stiff. Maybe it's mental, but it works from ages 24-75.

I have been using Glucosamine for a very long time. It works well first as an analgesic, and secondly over a long period of time it supposedly rebuilds the cartalage in the area that the doctors say you have arthritis In regards to the your knee problem, On another note, a) how much water do your drink? b) what kind of water are you drinking. Be aware that the chloride in our drinking water is directly attributable to degenerating hips knees and the plague of osteoporosis. It is also said that omega three oils help bigtime protecting against arthritis and other joint problems.

Many of my patients who have tried glucosamine have benefited. The jury is still out on the addition of chondroitin to glucosamine. MSM has been shown to be anti-inflammatory, the reason fro so many of these products also containing MSM.

I took a combination of glucosamine and chondroitin (from Costco) specifically for knee pain. The only sense in which it helped was that my lighter wallet must have put less of a load on my knees. It was a total waste of money.
