I'm LDS (Mormon) which suggests not to start dating til you are 16. He's my friend's brother. He's Ok, but I don't really really like him. He's way sweet, but I don't want to break his heart & have my Best Friend mad at me. What should I do?

It sounds like you have an easy out, if you "don't really like him." Apparently you're not 16 yet, so just explain that you are not allowed to date, and that you respect that decision, and that you hope he will understand. If this girl is your best friend, then of course she would understand too. I have found that if you are honest with people they will generally respect you and your relationships will strengthen. Good luck.

I'm LDS as well. You have your free agency, but I would not date him if I were you. THe prophet says not to date before you are 16, and it is a good rule to follow, even if it is just more of a casual thing. Even if there is not severe immorality involved, you will regret it later in life. If you don't like this guy, then don't lead him on by dating him, that will just make it worse for him later. I don't think your best friend would be mad at you for going out with him for sticking to what you know is right.

Stick to your values. They really make you a part of who you are, and are there for your protection. Besids, statistically the later you wait before you start dating the better off, too. So there are reasons for what he church is saying.
Besides, do you think you'd break his heart more if you dated him and then had a nasty break-up, or if you just remained good frineds? Anyway, you have an easy way to get out of it by telling him you aren't dating until you're 16. That shouldn't break his heart, and it will possibly even help him to respect you instead of just having a crush on you.

Well, If your not interested in him like that. Tell him that so your not wasting each others time. Its only fair that way..and ur friend should understand that.. I'm sure there are people that likes your friend as well but ur friend isn't interested in the person that way neither.
