Why would he/she care whether he worshipped him or not?

By your definition of omnipotent, he could just wipe us all off and start over....

When I'm 18, I'm becoming an athiest. You're right, but from what I've heard, God is supposed to be forgiving. Ever hear the story of Noah's Ark? You know, the one where God flooded the whole world and after it, he said he will never do it again?

(now there's global warming, but God comes to us in the form of Al Gore. ;) )

Yea I suppose He could just wipe us all off and start over but He promised never to do that again (the first time being in the old test. where only Noah's chosen family survived). But also, I'm not a parent but I imagine if my husband and I chose to create a child I would love him/her so much and would want my child to respect and love me back the same. I believe God wants that same genuine love from us. That is why he gave us free will. If there were no sin/temptation/evil in this world it would be impossible to measure our true love for Him. God doesn't need our love or need to be worshipped but He desires these things from His children.
God thought of you before you were created. How awesome is that? How many people do you know that will sacrifice their lives for your sake, even when you treated that person like dirt? We're all sinners, no one's perfect (except God of course). Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: White we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Seek God with all your heart and you will find Him I promise.
May God bless your curious heart.

The correct question is, why WOULD a God care? All this crap about God demanding worship implies that God is incomplete, is missing something - which flies in the face of the idea that God is omnipotent. Which, in turn, says that there cannot be a God...

Not that I believe in the supernatural.

But IF I did, we are surrounded by evidence that the creator god is not a combination of omniscience, benevolence and omnipotence. Maybe the truth is that god "works in mysterious ways." Like having a bizarre sense of ironic humor; to god maybe watching children painfully die with malarial ague is just good fun. And having people worship him in spite of such a pestilential attitude is just a real gas!

Jesus Christ came to save us and died for our sin. There is a God and he created everyone on this earth, including you. Could he wipe us all off the face of the earth and start over? Absolutely, but why would he want to, we are his creation and his masterpiece. He cares if we believe and worship him because he wants us to celebrate eternal life with him in Heaven. In Matthew 21:19-22 you will see how th power of faith can help us all to grow wise with the power of God. The last verse in that, (Matthew 21:22) it says, "If you believe, you will get anything you ask for in prayer." God wants us to believe in him so that we can have the things we desire and live with him eternally.

".... He could just wipe us all out and start over..." You mean like flooding the whole earth and only keeping a few faithful? Yeah, I guess He could do it that way by my definition of omnipotent.

A third of the angels decided to rebel and not worship Him. He wants for humans to pick one side or the other. Then, after everybody is done picking sides, He'll have His big party with all of us, His followers. It is up to you if you want to be at the party or not - you do like parties, don't you?

For the same reason that parents want their children to respect them. Because they created them! All of you that don't believe in god or have no flippin clue why you're here..good luck in life....and party on. Just like parents want their kids to be good and respectable people, our god and creator wants his "children" to be good and respectable people. We are here for a reason. I am and so are you. If your reason for being created was just to be a pest and question everything, then that is YOUR problem and i'm sorry. I'll continue to believe what I believe and keep looking for the good in others. Thanks :)

Because He gave us free will with hopes we would worship Him. And, yes, you are right, He could indeed wipe us off the face of the Earth and start over. Remember, that all the evidence out there that God exists still isn't enough to convince people to believe - it takes faith and faith alone. Once you try (sincere prayer), He will show you that He does exist. And, it will happen when you least expect it in a way you'd never consider however, you'll recognize it. He's amazing. John 3:16!!!

I've often wondered the same thing....why would an all-powerful, almighty God care one way or the other about a planet full of disobedient, ungrateful, hating one another human beings?

Not only care, but gave everything He could to give us an opportunity to be restored to His care.

Wow. Our God is an awesome God.

Well, He just does. He likes that. That's the way he is. You know, if the Bible is the truth, He made us to do just that. So . . . it's not such a stretch once you accept the Bible part.

But if you haven't, at least you know why a Christian might say that God likes worship.

Does that make any sense to you?
