I just posted this reply for someone else, but my response looks related to your dilemma, so I'll just copy and paste it here.

I used a generic acne treatment thingy that's kind of like proactiv but it didn't really do anything for me. Lots of people recommend proactiv or other such medications, but how effective it is really depends on your skin type.

I found that the Aveeno Clear Complexion Correcting Treatment works really well. It's about $13 or $14 for a 1 oz tube, but it's completely worth it. It can act like a moisturizer, meaning it's not harmful on the skin and the smell isn't nauseating or strong. It also helps reduce shine. I actually found this product after reading recommendations online and lots of people have shown before and after pics and their personal experiences with this product and the results pretty much look great for everyone. Give it a try.

raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
to open the pores and loosen dirt and grease from your face turn off the heat from a pan of distilled water, add 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar to a quart of the hot water. drape a towel over the pan and your head to steam clean your pores. take a cotton ball, dip in vinegar and pat over skin to remove loosened dirt. repeat 2 more times. then spray or dab on chilled vinegar and equal part of distilled water to close your pores and tone your skin. do twice weekly, also can use the chilled vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily.
it is amazing ....

raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
use this apple cider vinegar for rejuvenating results. first, wash the skin in warm water, no soap. next, apply a wrung out hot water soaked cloth to the face for 3 minutes, then remove. soak thin cloth in warm vinegar water 2 tbsp per cup of water and again apply to face. cover the vinegar soaked cloth with a towel wrung out in hot water, relax and lie down for 10 minutes or more, if possible with feet elevated above head. remove both cloths and gently rub skin upwards with towel or small loofah face pad. this rub removes the hundreds of dry skin scales. you can repeat this weekly or as needed. your skin will look youthful and beautiful..
i also drink the vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons in water with honey in the morning..and i use the vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily..
good luck
