How do I use the SOLVER function in excel.?

its an advance function.. most of the people dont even know that it exists

First enable/install the solver
for that go to tools> add insert
enable solver add in (you might need the installation cd for that)

Basically solver is used to solve the inequalities or called as the linear programming...
It will give the optimum solution ( maximum or minimum of an objective function) based on the boundary condition or constraints...

I recommend you to learn linear programming first and then solve the linear programming using solver... try contacting a university professor of mathematics on learning the linear programming. or buy some books??
