Just alwyas talk to him and tell him what you are doing. For example, o.k. let's go in the kitchen and get something to eat. Do you want cheese(show him cheese) do you want an apple (show him apple) etc. When you are going donw the stairs count the stairs with him
I know this may sound funny but if he likes watching DVD's my daughter loved watching Leap Frog Letter Factory at that age. It teaches the alphabet but for her at that age she would repeat each of the letter sounds and it would help her to learn how to make sounds. This helped her learn to put the sounds together to say words.

my son barely spoke anything until he was almost 2 years old, now he doesn't stop. I was trying to explain the name of a type of video to my husband this afternoon and I didn't think Gabe would just repeat it back but as soon as I had said Shiza, out it came from his mouth. I knew I shouldn't have, but my husband was too busy rolling on the floor laughing to care at the moment.
I was concerned before that he might have a problem that was causing delayed speech but when I spoke to our family dr about it he told me not to worry, his own grandson didn't speak a word until he was 24 or 25 months old, once he did start he didn't stop.
Don't force it, make it fun. Just point out things if you go for a walk, or even just around the house to start with. I told my son what I was doing when I changed his diaper, dressed him, gave him a bath, fed him and later getting him to feed himself. Try reading him simple books, my son absolutely loves being red to, it doesn't matter who is reading to him, he just loves it.

Different kids learn to talk at different ages. My son said "hi baby" to me at 7 months. My nephew started talking at three. The spectrum of "what is normal" is so vast, don't worry about how old should he be. You can try teaching him some simple signs...common things are please, thank you, hello, I love you. But don't stress over his silence. When he's six you'll want him to quiet down!

toddlers learn how to talk by skill of being spoken to. the appropriate element to do is act such as you're narrating your daily events like a sportscaster describes the interest for the radio. in this variety you're coaching your cousin that words relate to verbal replace and relate to particular products. to illustrate in case you have been making pasta you may say. Suzy i'll make pasta stunning now. we desire a pot. it rather is a pot. are you able to assert pot. Now we choose water to boil so i'll fill the pot with water.... etc. She'll love this interplay yet in addition comprehend that many teenagers do no longer commence conversing in finished and complicated sentences till age 3+.

read to him - everyday as a routine. read the same book if he likes it. label things around the house (flower, dog, cat, shoe, etc) esp. things that are important to him. it will come - some kids do need more time. but that doesn't mean you can just sit back and wait.
talk to the doctor about it - he may recommend a hearing screening to rule out hearing loss. a high number of ear infections may play a part too. good luck

Not all kids talk at 15 months. Most don't talk till 2 especially if they aren't the first child. When i say talk i mean complete sentences. As long as he can understand what you say to him and he has object recognition--you say get me the toy..or where's the kitty? If he does this he will be fine.Good Luck!

the baby will talk when ready. The more you read and talk to the child helps. Children are very preceptive. their brains are like sponges ready to soak up what you teach them. If it is any concelation; James Earl Jones didn't talk for years. now look at him.

You need to talk to babies while you are interacting with them. You can talk to them in any language,it does not matter,it is the sound that they are learning.Read to them as much as possible, and show them the pictures in the books. Also get their hearing check, just in case they are not hearing properly.
