Basically, I am a female living alone in a big city. I love animals and would never do anything to harm them, So please don't think I want to fight my pitbull. I condemn people who do that, they are sick and should not be allowed to become pet owners. As it is, these loving dogs already have a bad rep, but anyway I just want her to be buff and stocky and look mean, she is a sweetheart already!!! Any suggestions, on what I can feed her? And do you all think its a good idea to crop her ears? Thanks

Do not crop her ears! I, and probably the majority of people who will answer this, think that ear cropping is mutilation and a horrible cruelty that should be banned. I love the natural ears on such breeds as Boxers, Great Danes, Dobermans, etc.
Second, I understand that you want a dog for protection. Let's face it, 'pit bull' breeds already have a bad reputation, I don't think you need to do anything to make your bully look any worse than her reputation. At most, get her a spiked leather collar or something like that! 'Pit bulls' naturally have a very stocky, muscular frame, that's the way they were designed.
Just feed your pup a premium food like Iams, Eukanuba, Nutro, etc. in the proper amount. Keep her at a healthy weight and get plenty of exercise with daily walks and romps in the park, and your girl will look just the way she is supposed to.
Attend an obedience training class--puppy classes are great if she is still a pup. Regardless, any dog, especially a breed with a bad rep, should be well socialized and trained. You want her to know basic commands and obey you, and you want her to, in general, be friendly or at least nonaggressive toward other people and animals. You can certainly train her to bark on command, and I think that is all that you will ever need for safety.

Well if your gonna crop her ears she should be 9-11 weeks of age. If she's older than that then cropping is not an option because the cartilege has already set in her ear so it wont stand properly.
As for her being buff and stocky, just feed her a high quality food. (Not Iams or pedigree or any of that garbage), and exercise her. If she is older than 18 month you can do things like weight training, if she is younger than 18 months a nice walk will do.
You could also buy one of those studed collars or harnesses for her. Those can look pretty intimidating.

All pit bulls look mean though they may be loving. Trying to make him look mean may turn him into a weapon.
I believe they are either quiet and gentle or mean and vicious with very little in between.
A poorly cropped ear is worse than no crop at all. The crop for a Pit Bull is different from that of a Great Dane or a Doberman. Ask around for a good Vet.

oh god girl, get ready to be torn up! there are a lot of people on this site that go off everytime the word crop is uttered, and making your dog look mean will provoke them too. I'll get a thumbs down just for warning you! I don't blame you one bit! Feed your dog a food with a lot of protein. Watch out though, you don't want her to grow too fast or she can develop joint problems. I think cropping the ears is fine, depending on how old she is. make sure your vet is good at it though. I got my dog from the breeder already cropped and they are not perfect! If you do decide to do it, it usually costs $200-$300 and bring a good close up picture of exactly the type and length of the crop that you want. good luck.

why put your dog through an unneccesary surgery to crop the ears when it's not necessary? If you want her to bulk up there's only one answer EXERCISE you can get a weight pull harness and well you need to talk to a bully professional there in your area to learn to use the equiptment right but it works and of course a well balanced diet Diamond, Eukanuba, Science Diet, add some eggs and vege oil and raw chicken every now and again to help add calories and keep the coat shiny and gorgeous.

We know you do`nt want to fight your dog because you do`nt have enough sense to even own one. If the APBT was never fought by the professionals back in the day, you might as well own a cat or some other type of animal. There is nothing that can compare to a game APBT and it`s not the pro fighters that are harming the breed, it`s the average dumbass that that thinks they know the dogs that are destroying them. Hell, you do`nt even know how to feed a dog , want us to do your homework for you too ? Get real.

Shakes head.
Recently [in Australia] a person was charged with animal cruelty. Without regard for his dog he cut off it's ears with dressmaking scissors because he wanted to make it look mean. It made me feel sick.
Please do what's best for the dog.
