The shortcoming of the surname sites is that they're overly general and go for the very first instance of the name and not how it spread across the world.
Surnames don't come from places, people do. People chose their surnames and took them with them wherever they went. Names also mutated over time.
There may be German people with the name Medel, but there are also MANY Mexicans with that surname. I have found hundreds of people from Texas over the last 200 years who are Mexican/Mexican-Americans named Medel.
In the El Paso city directory of 1927 there's Gregorio, Isabella and Manuel. Doesn't sound too German to me...but sure sounds Mexican.
There are 669 birth records in Texas with parents named Medel...and first names like Maria Lourdes, Zulema, Luz Maria and Christopher Herrera Medel. Again, I'm not seeing the German but sure am seeing the Hispanic.
I'll bet if you do a search of the Mexican white pages, you'll find thousands of people with the Medel surname. Just a hunch, but I'll bet the surname developed in Central and South America independently of Germany.

Certainly, during the 1800's and beyond there were many immigrants to Mexico, Central and South America from Germany.

This is the best option for a reverse phone number lookup https://tr.im/721a7
Receiving a one or two hang up calls each month is probably nothing to worry about, but when those calls increase in frequency and if it happens in the middle of the night then you must do something to stop it, before it starts affecting your life. With the help of this services you can take away the one advantage these people have - their anonymity.

Names can come from anywhere... including a possible unknown adoption in your family background.
If you are just interested in the name, many sites can give generic information. In order to really know who YOU are, you need to trace your direct ancestry, step by step. Another thing to remember... if you have 8 gr grandparents, only one of those has the surname by birth (direct father's lineage). You are just as much genetically by the other 7 gr grandparents, all of whom might have been living in Spain or Mexico, or....

I suggest this service: http://phonedetectives.co - The best reverse cell phone lookup service.
It's a cheap service that works great! It could be used for a much deeper search. You can use it to get hold of different varieties of background reports, and in addition cell numbers, addresses and names.. you can get unlimited reports... I ran with this because I required to verify more numbers.
You can get the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and much more about anyone! The completly free reverse phone lookup generally doesn't provide anything interesting. To get interesting information, money will must be paid. The free searches don't provide considerably more than what may be found through the phone directory or personal information and they simply require your email to send spam. The reverse phone detective search tool does work, but you should use just the service that I posted above. The last thing you want to do, is pay for a service and find the numbers you want to lookup are not available in their directory.
The service that I reccomend doesn't have any kind of problem , you won't get any bad surprise! Trust it!
Reverse Phone Lookup area gives you additional access to millions of public records, including:
+ Find out the source of a harassing ("prank") caller
+ Research a number that appeared on your phone bill
+ Locate an old friend from high school or college
+ Research "missed calls" on your caller ID that you don't recognize
+ Verify an address
+ And more...
PhoneDetectives - http://phonedetectives.co
Conduct an instant reverse phone lookup. 100% Confidentail and Instant Results!
