I'm visiting LA for the first time also. I went on-line and book at hotel stay in Anaheim CA. The rate was 49.99 a night and don't have to pay up front. The hotel name is Days Inn Anaheim-Maingate.

definitley go to disneyland...it is the best place ever..if you go to disney.com/affordable you can get really good deals for staying at a disney resort...and there too is the california adventure..check out the tower of terror and it's tough to be a bug! i love that show! oh and one last disney thing is downtown disney..great shops and great food!

also go to universal studios...the best ride is jurassic park..god i love that ride..oh and the shows are amazing..check out fear factor live and backdraft...oh and citywalk which is right next door is fantastic..you dont even have to pay to get in! they have great shops, a movie theatre, and live bands..its like a big party every night and it's safe so don't worry about being there with the kiddies at night...

you could go and check out the hollywood was museum..its pretty cool

plan to go to hollywood and see the walk of fame, the chinese theatre, hollywood and highland center, ripley's odditorium, guiness world records and all the crazy acts that are on hollywood blvd. but the best part is seeing that big hollywood sign at the hollywood and highland center...its really fun and you should take a tour of the stars homes..i saw sharon and ozzy's house and they even said hi to us!

some other amusement parks are magic mountain and knotts berry farm..those were fun

if you want to be a celeb for a day...go by yourself..i wouldnt go with the kiddies to rodeo drive and robertson blvd...they have the best shops and i've met a couple of celebs there..go to the ivy on robertson blvd and there is always at least one celeb there all the time..

oh and definitley don't miss sprinkles cupcakes! those are the best cupcakes i have ever eaten..i'm not sure what street but check the web..i met jessica alba there and their is usually a line but it is soooo worth the wait...

i hope i helped...LA is like my second home and i LOVE it there..hope you have tons of fun!

Disneyland and universal studios. Stay in Disneyland with kids that age. It is safe and fun. Forget the cost...it is a one time life experience and cheaper in the end.
