Just adopted a cat from the shelter and after a day he started sneezing and is nose is all wet. I did some research about cats getting colds, but his eyes are clear and he is acting fine. Could it just be an allergy from exploring all the new corners and stirring up dust?

Well, he's probably stuffed up. When a cat gets into a new place, they smell things a lot. He prbably just caught up too much dust!

I believe it can be allergies but it can also be Asthma depending on your case. For instance, my cat would sneeze and have runny nose sometimes because of a combination of allergy and asthma. I've notice that she would cough or gage for air when I would put on my perfume or spray the house with Lysol spray, etc. My vet took some x-ray and determined that she has Asthma.

Considering he is from a shelter he may be up to date on his shots but that doesn't protect them from other things. You should take him to the vet. There is a common "cold" for cats and left untreated, can be bad. Just take him in and get his some meds, I tink they might give him some amoxicillan (spell) the pink kind like us humans take. Good luck. Ps My little kitty had this.

Well yes, it could be an allergy. If you would like, you can take him to the vet and get a professional allergy test! This is very useful, and the vets tell you how to take control of allergies and what to use and stuff. ♫♪

It could be. My cat had a sinus infection, it was really hard to catch as it was caused by a cavity in one of her teeth.... very strange.

Take him to the vet. It may take a visit or two (took three for my cat) but they'll figure it out.

idk much about cats but i really wat to be a vet...and i study stuff already and you know how people can get ill from changing of surroundings and changing of things! well your cat could be a little sick feeling from that!
if it doesn't change soon then maybe take him to the vet!
give it about 2-3 maybe even 4 days, and see if it kinda stops!
also look around the house for dust places and see if he goes over to those places=)

hope he gets better!!!
