O.k., I went a little overboard and ate a whole sleeve of Girl Scout cookies this afternoon. A few hours later, I felt like my legs were going to give out, I was light-headed and shaky, felt like I was going to throw up and had to lie down. This feeling has come over me before and I've questioned whether I am hypoglycemic. But this time, I realized that I had overdosed on sugar a few hours earlier. Is this a normal reaction for anybody who eats to much sugar (and yes, I'm going to lay off on the my sugar addiction! =) - or should I be concerned about hypoglycemia or something? I quickly ate a bagel with butter and had orange juice and aside from being a little tired, I was perfectly fine. Thanks for any info! =)

You sound like I used to be. I gave up the cookie addiction, stick to whole wheat foods and don't get dizzy and weak any longer. I also knocked out all transfats (partially-hydrogenated oils). That stuff wreaked havoc on me, too.

Yep, you over dosed . . . been there and done that! I hope you continue to feel better.

Do you have any other symptoms when you eat sugar such as tiredness, hunger dizziness? these are symptoms normally associated with hypoglycemia. Do you get headaches and have trouble sleeping? If this is just a one off then it may not be hypo, but lay off the sweet stuff for a while just to make sure.

I don't know about hypoglycemia, but I've had that happen to me when I've OD'd on sugar. Not fun.
