If I see someone coming behind me and I know they are going faster, I pull over to the next lane, and let them pass. Why do idiots insist on making it like they are the only ones on the road, while they have drivers seething behind them? Then a whole line of cars will zoom around them to pass them and they still continue to stay in the left lane? MOVE THE FUNK OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I get over except when two circumstances coincide.

1. I am speeding, driving at faster the legal limit.

2. Someone comes up beind me at an even greater speed, and rides my bumper.

I hate tailgaters with a passion and will do anything I can to make their day unpleasant.

If I see you coming, and you pause a reasonable distance from by backside, and I can get over, I will get over.

If you land on my bumper at warp speed, I will

a. Pretend to start getting over, but stay put
b. Slow down to the speed limit
c. hit the switch I installed that turns on my brake lights without braking
d. staying in the lane, but weave back and forth

Did I mention I hate tailgaters?

Some are idiots, some are self-centered; but the majority are trying to act like the police, rubbing their obvious superiority of being able to resist speeding against your inferior animal-level existence; little do they know that most if not all jurisdictions require them to change lanes if not keeping up with the pace of traffic, even if all those in the left lane are going 100 miles per hour; here in California, if they are pulled over and say anything like: "it's against the law to speed so I was trying to enforce the speed limit and make the traffic slow down" they can be charged with impersonating a police (or Highway Patrol) officer, which is a felony - not just two points or a large fine.

They don't really have set rules for being in the left lane. Most states have a "passing only" rule, but it's never enforced. Everyone has their own definitions of what the driving lanes mean. Some people think that as long as they are going exactly the speed limit they are allowed to be in any lane they want.

It's not the speeding lane. If you are going under the speed limit you should move over but if you are going the speed limit or 5 miles over then you have every right to drive in that lane. Some exits are in the left lane also and sometimes you need to be there even if you don't wish to speed.

I think we all wish those drivers were passive aggressive but for the most part I dont think thats true. They probably just aren't familiar with the rules, not good drivers, not paying attention to who's behind them. It is very annoying and pretty rude, especially when they wouldn't have a problem getting over and letting you pass. There have been a few instances where I would be speeding down the left lane, and somebody would suddenly get in front of me, just to "teach me a lesson" and "slow me down". I, of course, pass the motherf*ckers. How dare they put their lives and mine at risk just to make a point.

How about trying to get to work and two old codgers side by side going 15 miles below speed limit. Irritating!

Because they can't control anything in their life and feel "powerful" holding up traffic. I hate those people, especially when I am trying to get to work. You just can't drive slow during rush hour (where I live anyway).

I think you answered your own question. Because they are idiots and don't understand the concept of sharing the road with other people.
