I'm writing a persuasion letter and i need to convince my reader that swords are cool/good. i need some positive things about sword. how are they useful and good and stuff?

1. They represent a major part of the worlds history. Almost every place in the world has had its history manipulated by the sword.
2. It BLOODY cool, i mean common swords rock and the got all kind of uses like stabbing your little brother or sister.
3.Can be used to open letters
4. Is actually a extremely effective weapon. :) and never runs out of ammo.
5. :) swords are used in the arts all over the world. The Scottish sword dance for example. Its all heritage
P.S if your reader is a serious pacifist then your going have a hard time convincing them but it is not impossible

There is a book, often presented as a companion to Musashi's book of five rings called "the book of family traditions on the art of war" by Yagyu Munenori.
This book contains three volumes:
The Killing Sword - the sword in the context of killing
The Life Giving Sword - the sword in the context of preserving life
No Sword - about how both killing and life giving as not about the sword at all. The sword is just a symbol and tool to be used in the achievment of killing or of giving life.
Read this book - its short - along with Musashi.
If you don't finish these volumes with an appreciation of the meaning of a sword, you haven't understood what you have been reading - go back and read again until you do.
Another poster mentioned that swords have outlived their usefulness. This is true. But think abut what the sword was - it was used for and had the same symbolism as a gun does today.
The sword and the gun aren't important - what they symbolize is very important. The symbolism stays the same even though the symbol changes.

Ok , here are a few simple ones.
They're shiny.
They're pointy.
You can cut people with them.
If guns are ever outlawed, swords would rule.
They are part of history.
Always an interesting point of topic.
Many different sword arts and traditions.

Kinda' tough to present a convincing argument if you aren't persuaded yourself, ain't it?
If you are convinced -- the best, most persuasive argument that you can give are the reasons that convinced you and why they convinced you.
The information you need depends entirely on the type of presentation you want to give. Are you talking to a pacifist, a militant, giving a humorous argument?
I had a discussion/debate teacher that dumped this sort of stuff on us all the time.

there are many things dear....
1 swords are apart of asian,and like irish and such history....alot of wars were fault with swords.....
2 they are apart of art....it takes alot of will to make one and to get a good form and such
3 swords are good defense and offense
4 swords are beautiful and have many forms and such for usage

swords are good for the simple reason that it was the foundation of our history of the begging of weapons other than the rock or stick/staff

Today it's only useful for excrise, hobby, and wall hanger. It has lived out its usefulness.
