Get one with some pockets/zippers. I also keep things in ziplock baggies, big and small. One for like lotions and other things like that, one for snacks, one for meds and bandaids, it is easier to just pull out the bag than to search and search for what you are looking for. I also keep extra bags in there in case of an accident. Also it is good to take time and clean it out once in a while, stuff gets in there and you forget about it.

I use small packing cubes--the same kind people use for travel.

That way diaper stuff and a change of clothes for one kid stays separate from stuff for the other. Parents can split up easily, the packing cubes have handles that you can hook over a stroller handle, and they work just as well for snacks or toys as they do for diapers and clothes.

Now, that said, I should also say that I travel as lightly as possible, and I often don't carry a diaper bag at all anymore.

But packing cubes, even in diaper bags with pockets, are great.

Find one with inside pockets, and zippers. Most of them come with a bottle/sippy cup holding elastic attatched inside. Also, weed out stuff you don't use as much as you thought you would!

Constantly restock it and get rid of junk.
