If God is omniscient, how can He be upset when you sin? Wouldn't He know that already, and have a plan to deal with that sin?

Just wondering, it's been a question that's been on my mind for a while.

When one of my children goes against the rules I have laid out for them, it saddens me; however, I know that it will happen as part of their nature. When we sin, it is no different in God's eyes. We are HIS children and He loves us unconditionally but also gives us free will. It saddens Him deeply to go against His will for our lives. Of course He has a plan to deal with our sin, by which He uses to teach us to grow in Him, to trust Him, to seek only Him. Just as my children have consequences for their wrong actions, so do we (His children) for our sin. The goal is to learn from these bad choices and repent sincerely, to the purpose of drawing closer to Him (and not repeat the sin) and be used according to His will.

How can He be upset?! We're not innocent before the Lord! And He's not the author of sin in our lives, WE are. Does He know that? Oh yes, He knows, and we should know too what we deserve. In spite of this, for reasons we do not know, He saw fit to yank some of us away from our lemming-like rush to the cliff of destruction. We call that rescue "salvation", which comes from outside of ourselves, God's action upon our hearts, not our own turning and our own will. This is omniscience, this is sovereignty, this is GRACE.

God is omniscient. However, this does not mean that he predestines or that he always chooses to look into future events. God gives us free will and can tell "from the beginning, the finale". So, when we use our gift of free will in a way that shows disdain for Jehovah, we, hurt him. When, however, we use our god-given wisdom (our bible-trained conscience) to make decisions, we can make his heart glad. Proverbs 27:11

God is emotional. He created emotions and He is certainly justified in righteous anger and sadness. Ever read the book of Hosea where God compares His relationship with Israel to that of a loving and righteous man married to a prosititute? Time and time again, both Israel and this woman, Gomer, run away and cheat on God, seeking pleasure elsewhere. Yes, God does know about it beforehand, but He is still justified in being angry and hurt when we choose something else besides Him. But He chose to stay His wrath and shed grace and mercy on us instead. His wrath was taken out on His on Son the cross. He showed how He truly felt about sin in that moment, as Christ died the most embarrasing painful horrible death. Hosea knew his spouse would cheat on him over and over again, and still felt pain at it, was still upset by it, but he still chose her.

I doubt seriously if God gets upset. I think he may be displeased but He has already provided a way to banish sin forever through the Blood of Jesus. So I find it hard to believe He is upset.

The definition of sin is separation from God. Since he loves you having you separated from Him makes him sad. His omnisicient has nothing to do with it. His gift of free will and love does.
