Sorry, no there is no real Sweetheart Tree. THE GREAT RACE. This Blake-Edwards-Comedy from 1965 (Warner Bros.) contains the original film song "The Sweetheart Tree" sung by Natalie Wood.
They say if you kiss the right sweetheart, The one you've been waiting for, Big blossoms of white will burst into sight And your love will be true evermore.

Common Name: Sweetheart Tree

Family: Staphyleaceae

Description: Deciduous small tree to 20’, perhaps taller in prime sites. Key attribute: a fall show of pink to cherry-red warty ½" fruits that open to expose blue-black seed. Foliage is glossy, opposite, odd-pinnate, and comprised of slender-pointed 2 to 5" long leaflets; branches and shoots are stout and pithy, with uniquely striated bark (white webbing on a chocolate-purple background).

Hardiness: USDA Hardiness Zones 7 – 8, perhaps Zone 6 in sheltered locations.

Uses: Durable small tree. Specimen for the small garden.
