I'd really encourage you to learn as much as possible about the culture and peoples of Hawai'i. Regardless of whether you are home-schooled or attend public or private school, you will be living in an extremely multicultural place. You will have an easy transition if you are aware and sensitive.

Oh, and DEFINITELY get a surf board, and USE it. You'll meet friends and you'll see classmates and it's a great sport. And consider paddling in a canoe club, too. Be open minded and not judgemental. Listen a lot and observe people, and you'll learn many new things.

Hawai'i has the lowest crime rate of all the United States. When you mom realizes how safe it is, you'll have a lot of freedom to come and go as you like. You'll still have to be careful and have to watch for traffic if you live near/in a city.
Aloha= Hello (and goodbye
Mahalo=Thank you
You'll do well to mind your manners, because it is expected. But everyone is nice to remind a good boy.

Hawaii is a paradise. It does not have a winter. There is a beautiful ocean and beaches. The trades winds blow so the heat is not too bad. There are no snakes, lots of pretty girls. People dress casual and never get in a hurry.
