In the Old Testament God used names that described a certain characteristic of His nature, Jehovah Jirah, Jehovah Shalom, etc. I am was another one. In the New Testament, all of these characteristics were all rolled up into one. And He is now Jesus Christ which means anointed Savior. Jesus Christ is the way to our Salvation.

Yahweh or Jehovah, or so we translate from Hebrew. Of course, that's only in the christianity scheme of things. Don't forget all the Eastern Religions with various gods, too - they're entitled to their belief too.
The name depends on which god you believe in - god is god is god. The name shouldn't be something to fight over.

God does not communicate with us mortals. All these names we have are made-up by men. I don't understand why God needs to have a name. Is God not enough?

God has no name, because when you give a name to someone or something is because you know it completely.

However, we call or refer to him, according to his atributes. mercy, powerful, creator, governor, etc, well in hebrew off course =P

Most of the hebrew words are some how connected to this names", or atributes.

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities,

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am;
that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me
before the foundation of the world.

Here's a hint. Be still and know I AM god. God can be found in stillness, not in words. But after God/Goddess is found, no place is without.
