No, Invoking a god figure is a crutch for most people who can't handle the fact that they may never work out why they are here or what their purpose is.
I know that if I am kind and help people I feel good every day. And if I am hateful and upset people I feel bad everyday. Its very simple to see what is the best way to live.
If you choose to say that there is a "God" who made things this way and that when I feel good its "Heaven" and when I feel bad its "Hell" then thats fine. But I don't need to invoke a god to make me feel more secure in this big universe I don't understand. I just remain in awe of it and try to understand as much as I can and make myself feel as good as I can. My feeling is that my purpose in life is to achieve "peace of mind" which I can only do if I have no enemies and try to see the world as a wonderful place.

No. I know my purpose in life is to pay taxes to a non-responsive, greedy, corrupt government system and be happy about it, and I know my purpose is to blindly follow the enforced rules of society that I must be judged on my income level, my appearance, my race, my car, my clothes, and then be told this type of thing doesn't matter, when every day it is proven false, and I know my purpose is to work happily at a dead end job with mind knumbing, repetitive and un-challenging work; try to save up enough money to provide my family with a nice home, and when I finally can afford to really live and enjoy life, and do the things I have always wanted to do, my life will be over, and I will be buried and forgotten about in some field in the middle of nowhere, while small field animals crap on my grave and mice and maggots chew my bones clean of it's flesh.

Sure. If there's no God, then there are no standards for living, no reason to live. It would make life an illusion, some weird freak of science. There would be no point in punishing wrongdoers: how do we know they're wrong? Nothing has meaning without a God who set things in motion.

hahahaha no. just because somebody doesn't believe in a god or an afterlife doesn't mean that they have no purpose for living. i live for the purpose of helping others now, making an impact, and enjoying my life and the effect it has on others. my life has purpose without an end reward of an afterlife.

No, My main purpose in life is to have fun, love, take care of my family (i'm 17 so my family is my sister, mother and cousins)

If there was no God, i think that the world would be worse off.
God(s) inspired people to paint beautiful things, to write wonderful books, to build masterpeices.

I think that science and God can co-exist, i think it's just people that want them seperate.

The first chimists were religious people (Egyptians, christians ect. ect.) and the Egyptians were great scientists, and very religious.

I think that the world is better AND worse With God.
depending on who is worshiping.

I already don't believe and I find plenty of purpose in my life. Its not not in serving a god like a pet slave.
