depends on the dog, depends on the cat !! My dog and cat get along just fine - just need to socialize them correctly, from young age if possible :-)

This is all a matter of upbringing and training. There is no reason why a Boxer should not get along well with a cat , especially if they are carefully introduced to each other and supervised in the early stages. There are many instances where large dogs, and that includes Boxers, are very good friends.

Like all things in dog ownership, a sensible approach is the key!

boxers are playful by nature
and are wonderfully disobedient
(mine is anyway) The boxer is not
an agressive dog unless they are really pushed into a corner, your boxer will not give up toying
with the cat until it is satisfied and the novelty has worn off (this could take upto 10x longer than most other types of dog breed) due to the boxers
inquisitive nature, the cat on the other hand will probably be half scared to death by that time
if not allready dead from shock and exhaustion
if it is a extremely agile and foolishly persisant cat and has the endurance of a super trained athlete,it may have a go at the boxer and scratch its eye out,you will have to periodically check for this because your boxer will not show any signs
of discouragement whatsoever, almost to a point of suicide,i dont know if they are stupid or extremely brave?bit of both maybe.goodluck
ps:you may well need to arrange alternative accomadation for yourself and pets because i have this uncanny feeling your house will be totally trashed in the boxer/cat bonding process

I had a couple boxers and always had a cat at the same time and never had any problems.

With any breed of dog, you need to teach the dog that the cat is off limits for them. Let them approach the cat on a leash but the instant they try and chase it, bark at it, bite it or anything like that, say 'No!' in a loud voice and give a sharp jerk on the leash. Repeat until they are friendly or at least indifferent to the cat.

My last boxer and cat would chase each other in a playful manner, it was so funny!

It all depends on raising. Boxers can be wonderful around other pets - if raised with them. The four Boxers I work with regularly happily share their home with two Manx cats. But if I were to bring a cat into my home with my 3 Boxers - it'd be disaster waiting to happen (not to mention adding the Springer Spaniel Boxer wannabe to the mix) An older Boxer without cat socialization will think the cat's a wonderful toy.

They aren't aggressive dogs as far as I know, but when it comes to liking cats, it varies from dog to dog. A Boxer who is raised with cats would probably be fine with cats. However, I would be cautious when introducing ANY adult dog that had never met a cat.

It also goes the other way. Some cats love dogs, others don't. Keep the cat's feelings in mind when introducing it to a dog.

We have 14 cats and 2 german shepherds the cats tend to take advantage of the dogs like stealing their food from under their nosed pinching the dogs bed actuall using the dogs as pillows or enen beds and they fawn all over one another

it really depends on the personallity of the dog and cat.
Also if you want to test it out dont rush/push them together.
Keep the dog/cat in the same room together with only one in
a cage.See if they are clawing at one another or if lound HISS sounds and barking is occuring. If so then its not such a good idea.If after about 1 day ..or even a couple hours..if they get along fine let the pet out of the cage.Supervise the pets in the same room and see how they respond.Best of luck
