So i met this girl online about a month ago and we have talked on the phone quite alot of times. she is really amazing to talk to and she said she liked me and wanted to go on a date with me (she actually asked me out). now i have asked her out a few times now and every time she has canceled but has had good reasons to do so. although once she never called to tell me she had to cancel but we said we would confirm next day and I never got ahold of her. turns out she had a family emergency and had to fly home. now, should i keep trying or is her unreliability a bad sign? She still talks to me and flirts alot online but i feel this is dragging on too long and its not easy for me to wait this long.

It could be she is dodging you, or it could be just incredible bad luck. The fact that you met her online though makes me question the bad luck theory.

i had an online relationship with someone for over a year before i finally met them because he was 10 hrs away (driving distance). i asked multiple times in different forums is the general public would think it might work out for me, and i got a 50% answer rate for either way. Some suggested it were the absolute way to go-- others swore it were more trouble than it was worth. I chose to ignore the latter, casting it off as associations with bad experience. However, i have become one of those advocates AGAINST it, myself. When everything came out in the end, we ended up splitting-- not because of the distance-- but because of the growth that both of us had experienced during the relationship, and we weren't able to grow TOGETHER. He shut me out a lot from his personal life, and emotions are still pretty raw, now almost seven months after i met him, and after we "broke-up".
Based on biased personal experience, i would say move on for a more physical, real relationship. If i can save ANYONE from the heartwrenching pain that i encountered, even a stranger, than my work on this earth has been done.

The internet is so two dimensional...

You never know when she could be trying to make up an excuse to get out of it. She may be upset because you canceled when she asked you out.
