Glad to hear you are taking the cat to the vet. The cat could have worms, which would be the best of the two possibilities I see. Unfortunately the other thing is that you cat may have thyroid problems. I had that with one of my cats. He ate and ate and lost so much weight. If it is that, don't worry, it can be handled with pills, my cat lived to be 17 years old.

Worms are a definite possibility!! She should be fine though since you are taking her to the vet soon. Plus animals can go a while with out treatment and have worms. Sine she is only 2 years old I am sure she is fine. Take her to the vet tomorrow---that will relieve a lot of your stress----good luck and she will be fine!!! :)

After worming your cat if she is still losing weight, then is might be coming in to heat. My cat scooter is about 2 years old and seems to be losing 2 to 3 or sometimes 4 lbs right around her heat cycle! Try changing her food around that time of weight lost
It's Working for scooter!!

Yes, take her to the vet. It could be worms, but it could also be diabetes. Eating but still losing weight is one of the signs, also, drinking an excessive amount of water is another sign of it. Not to worry, if it is, it's manageable. Depending on the type of diabetes, (if it is that) it can be controlled by either diet, or insulin shots. Either way, get her to the vet. God bless and good luck! =)

You are making the best choice by consulting the vet soon. Take a fresh fecal sample if you can so it can be checked for worms. It is not normal for such a young cat to be losing weight.

I am guessing but she may be stressed because of the presence of the kittens. But you are right to take her to the vet to rule out any underying medical condition. Don't forget to tell the vet that you are fostering 2 kittens and if he thinks this may have anything to do with your cat's weight loss.

It is good you are taking her to the vet because she might have a intestinal problem.
