I tried to install using CD but doesn't work. It says "Please Insert Win2000 Pro CD in Drive A:. So, I created 4 floppy disks (bootable) as mentioned on windows web. After reading all 4 floppies (i mean after reading all the drivers & initializing installation), it says "Do you want to install Windows 2000 Pro now? If yes, press Enter. I pressed Enter. Now it says,"Please insert Win 2000 Pro CD in CD ROM drive". I did so but IT DOESN'T DETECT THE CD. I tried many times but doesn't seem to work.

Presently, WinXP is installed on Pentium 3. Some jerk installed it. I wanna remove it and install Win2000 Pro. Please help. I know Win98 is a better choice but i need support for AutoCAD 2007 (Win2000 supports it).

Please advice me wat should I do now?

*I downloaded the pirated copy (image file) of Win2000.

Yes, the CD is bootable. I change boot order to CD and restarted, but after few seconds, it says " Please insert CD in Drive A:". Drive A is floppy drive.

If you have windows xp installed you have to format the partition to remove it then install windows 98 after you install windows 98 go to my computer and insert windows 2000 and double click on the CD drive or open to see all files then click on setup and when it asks you you want to upgrade or full installation select full installation and follow to the end.
you can't do that when you have windows xp because windows xp newer than 2000 but Windows 98 came before 2000 so the computer will try to update to higher windows which is 2000.

You may have to uninstall winxp 1st. It depends on the software you actually have for win2000. Is it an upgrade or a new install cd? Try to do that from your control panel. Your copy of win2000 may not be a bootable cd. Try inserting the cd, then click on start, run, and try to run the cd from there.

Other options, go to the Microsoft web & get into one of the Q&A groups that are always running on that web...or call a store (like Fry's or CompUSA) and ask for Tech support. If you can get a real person instead of a recording, you might be able to get some info from them (if you are really nice).

Don't know why you want to go all the trouble to install Win 2000 when you're already has Win XP. It's a better OS and it can run AutoCad 2007. You need to upgrade your processor first because the minimum requirement for Atocad is a Pentium 4. You may be able to run it with a Pentium 3 but it will be really slow and you definitely don't want to run Autocad 2007 with Win 2000.

Before you install 2000, transfer all your files, you probably did that.

Is your copy bootable? That is the question. Do yourself a favor, get a real copy, they still sell them.

To get it to run, put the disc into the computer, retart, F2, change the BIOS to boot to C:, save the changes, and it will reboot. If your copy is bootable, then it will start. If it don't start then, well you need the real thing.

XP, is really the same, except its prettier, I run 2000 Professional, and it does seem to be more dependable, but a lot of things now will not work with it. Games, hardware.

Sounds to me like you got a bad copy of the operating system.

Windows 2000 is rather cheap these days, you might want to invest in a real copy.
