i havent worn my lip rig i a very long time like over a year and while it is still open it is very very small at this point. i could not get a normal lip ring into the hole if i tried. and nobody even notices that it is anything but a little bump on my lip. i do sometimes miss having it but o well i can always start small and build back up to a normal sized ring.

That depends on a few things. First, what gage ring are you going to use? Needless to say. a larger whole will leave a larger scare. Generally speaking though, the scare will not be all that noticeable, there is even a chance there will be none at all. Remember this: The reason kissing is sooooo great is because you have lots and lots of nerve endings in your lips. For that same reason, no matter what anyone tells you, it is going to hurt quite a bit. Not only when it is being done but for quite a while during the healing process. Make sure it is what you want. They are cool but come with a price!

As long as the piercing is done by a skilled reputable piercer and heals without major complications, when you take the piercing out it will heal with minimal scarring. The scar will usually look like a white dot and may feel hard for a while, but over time the color and hard scar tissue will break down and be less noticeable. Once healed, you can apply make up to the area if need be.

How long it takes to close will vary from person to person, so I can tell you how long until it does close, but it will...give your body time.
