These are tapeworms you are seeing. No, they are not eggs, they are actual segments of worm that are shed when your cat has a bowel movement. These worms are caused from your cat ingesting a flea, so you need to treat your cat for fleas as well, or he could end up re-infecting himself over and over again after worming. You can go to the vet to get your cat dewormed either by injection or they will send you home with some pills. Do, try and bring a sample of the worm itself....tapeworm eggs do not show up in a fecal sample...so don't waste your money...also someone mentioned you contracting these worms from your cat....this is possible but EXTREMELY unlikely. It is very hard for humans to get THIS type of worm from a cat.

That would be tape worms. I have a cat that is very susceptible to them. One flea in the house, and voila we are at the vet with tape worms.

Take your cat to the vet first thing. They can give it a short pill run or a shot that will kill the worms. And you need to consider keeping your cat on advantage as that will lessen the likely hood of getting worms. There is also a pill you can give your cat that will kill all the fleas on it's body, and it's a good thing to do that even if there is no sign of flea dirt.

The other way they get worms is by being an out door cat and eating dead things they find.

Honey, your cat has a worm infestation. This is fairly common, and unless your kitty baby is listless and isn't eating, it isn't serious. I would, however, get your baby to the vet. Your vet can prescribe the best de-wormer for your kitty.

If you can't get to the vet right away, go to your local PetSmart and ask the vet-tech there to recommend a de-worming product. There are many wonderful and safe products available for this problem. You can use the PetSmart products until you can get to the vet. We have 6 cats. 4 of them as babies had worms. We were able to treat this with medication the vet prescribed. It wasn't cheap but the problems never recurred. We now have 6 huge, very healthy and very spoiled cat children.

Good luck...and thanks for loving animals and providing your baby such a good, loving home!

Your cat has worms. Get a stool sample and take that and your cat with you to the vet. You can buy some cheap worming medicine to give to your cat. You need to continue worming (and giving him regular flea and tick prevention) him every month or two for the rest of his life to prevent worms from coming back.

Those are tapeworms. They come from fleas. You need to take your cat to the vet, have them take a stool sample, make sure the cat does not also have round worms which come from fleas also. The vet will medicate the cat. This will cost you less than $25 to do. You will then need to look into purchasing some form of flea/tick control for your cat. Keep the fleas off the cat, keep the tape worms out of your cat's intestines. I almost forgot to include this. THOSE WORMS CAN BE TRANSMITTED TO HUMANS. If your butt starts to get a tickle, look into it.

These are tapeworms. You need to get treatment from your vet. It is not serious but needs to be taken care of as they will not disappear on their own. You need medication, but only from your vet (not across the counter)Take a stool sample with you when you go to the vet so he will know which type of worm he is treating.

Its not tape worms, nor eggs. Its pin worms, you may have them too, they crawl out of the anus and look for a new host. Anything with an anus in your house could now be infected. Go to vet then doctor, its easy to clear up but EVERYONE must be treated at the same time.

DO NOT use a general deworming from a store, I work in one and we ALWAYS discourage people from buying them from us. If you have misdiagnosed the type of worm, it will not work and just make your cat have diarrhea and probably make the intestines bleed. Go to the vet, get the right info and the right treatment.

Take your cat to the vet asap!!! I am pretty sure that your cat has worms. Your cat will be fine as long as you get it to the vet and get some meds for it!!! Good luck

these are TAPEWORM segments which are full of hundreds of eggs-- (so do not sqwish it!)
be careful- humans can get infected also.
the adult worm lives inside the intestines.
it comes from FLEAS and sometimes rodents.
make sure you clean up well and vacuum.
use a vet prescribed flea control year round (avoid over the counter treatments they can be deadly).
and go to your vet to get a tapeworm shot for your cat.
Do not use the over the counter wormers-- they are for roundworms and will not work on tapeworms.
** AVOID having the vet charge you for a 'fecal test'.... these are innaccurate for tapewroms they do not show up on a fecal test. put some of the segments in a zip bag and show them to the vet instead- saves time and your money.

That's a classic description of TAPEWORM. What you are seeing wriggling from your cat's butt is not the actual tapeworm but the tapeworm's segements which it sheds as it get longer and longer. You can have your cat treated for tapeworm at the vets or treat him at homw with tapeworm tabs you can buy at Petco or Petsmart (you need to fllow directions closely). BUT you also need to treat your cat and his environment against FLEAS becuase cats get tapeworm when they ingest a flea (while licking their fur, etc.). If you don't treat for fleas, the tapeworms will just come back.

Oh... the only way you can get the type of tapeworms that infest cats is when you swallow a flea yourself.
