im agnostic, but I agree with the atheist. He set things in motion, but he doesn't want us to rely on him for every little thing, He gave us the abilities to solve our own problems and help others. So give him a little credit and do something with yourself. Faith in god with no religion is what I have, but it was my personal choice to help people, but if I decide they are being lazy and could do it themselves I will refuse to help.

My ability to help others comes from the principles of compassion and sympathy that I held as an atheist: after all, in a universe defined in human terms, who else can help someone but another person? Therefore I helped others as a way of maximizing benefit and reducing harm in the world around me.
Now, as a Wiccan, I heed the words of the Goddess: "Nor do I demand anything in sacrifice, for behold, I am the Mother of all living, and My love is poured out upon the earth." I try very hard to manifest that Divine love -- I don't always succeed, but I do try. But part of the reason I came to Wicca is because the Wiccan moral code most closely suited my atheistic ethics, so in the end it all springs from the same root in my personality -- which is independent of any religion.

My faith hasn't given me the ability to help others... i already did that before i became a christian.
God gave that ability to me already, once i had more faith in him, my ability to help others has only increased.

Faith in the Word of God is the faith that gives us the ability to help others. God is a God of Love "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth On Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God's love for his children, God's agape love,is given to those who believe. This love in turn is established in our hearts and gives us phileo love for our brothers and sisters even so as to also love our enemies. This love is what gives a Christian the ability to help others.

I've always had the ability to help others, with or without any faith. However, Hospitality is one of the Nine Noble Virtues of Ãsatrú. ;-)

I can lay my hand on people for severe pain and it leaves them immediately, and sometimes for other ailments.,I have seen my prayers answered.I heard a voice once that said ".Go Rub His Feet "while in fervent prayer for my father.I went to the hospital and rubbed my fathers feet. he opened his eyes .!! he had been In a coma from a stroke for nine days with a machine making him breath. & had a lung infection.and lived he well for 11 more years .i have seen other miracles.Praise god and his Spirit.
It says that..I Can Do ALL things thru Christ that strengthens me.all things means ALL things.with the simple pure faith as a mustard seed has.if you have doubt then that cuts you off from the spirit of God,In Romans it says it is a sin to doubt, True pure Faith and love is necessary for the spirit to work thru us.Its so simple.Really.

My faith in myself has given me the ability to help others.
As an atheist, I believe it is up to humans to care for and help each other. No god is going to do it for us.

Jesus said, "By your love shall men know you are my disciples" and that this fulfills the law and the prophets: Love the Lord your God with all your heart andsoul and might and your neighbor as yourself. Kenneth Copeland once said that other religions are about what to do, but Christianity is about accepting what has been done!

It is not my faith that has given me the ability to help others, but rather the example set by my parents. Still, as a Christian, I do believe that helping others is what God calls us to do. An example of this comes from Matthew 25:34-46, as follows:
34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
