I am proud of being an atheist.

It is a choice I arrived at after careful thought, consideration and research. I am proud of the effort that went into choosing my own path, rather than being led by others.

Hells no, you're saving the world one step at a time. Religion is the source of so much bigotry and oppression and misconception. By embracing truth you can look at the world through untainted eyes. Realise that you do good for good's own sake, not cause you're afraid of getting struck by lightning. You've acknowledged this world is the only real one, and what we do here is all that matters. You know that advancements in science, feeding the hungry and freeing the oppressed matter infinitely more than making someone believe in the grown up version of Santa Claus.

And it means you can get all the guilt-free poontang you want. Truly religious people will only make love to one person in their life, with a little game and some luck you could give so many women (or men, i don't know your gender/sexual persuasion) the single most pleasurable experience any human being can have in their life time. Orgasm!

Welcome to the Light side. Wear it with pride.

The first deadly sin (we're told) is Pride. I think this is no accident.

All of the so-called sins are in fact part of the human condition: lust, envy, sloth, and especially pride are inescapable facets of our nature. Telling people that just being human is wrong, is a great way to make them feel guilty and fearful and in need of "spiritual guidance."

Atheist or not, I think anyone with an independent mind has a right to be proud of that.

i'm uncertain if delight is extremely a logical emotion to sense in know to atheism. i replaced into as quickly as a born-back Christian apologist who tried to reconcile technological know-how and faith. yet, I grew up, found out the fee of objectivity, and discarded those ideals I had that have been unwarranted for the quantity of information in the back of them. It did not somewhat take dissimilar attempt, so, no, i'm not somewhat *proud* of being an atheist, interior an analogous way i'm not happy with being white, woman, lesbian, scientist... the record is going on and on. i'm, besides the undeniable fact that, *chuffed* to be an atheist.

As a Christian, I say of course not, if you truly have a mind set that what you believe is right. The problem I see with your posting and that of many others is how you assume it's you against us. I, personally, could careless what anyone believes. I and no one else can force you to believe anything.

My problem with atheists or at least most atheists is that they continually keep telling me that I am trying to convert them. And, again, "most" atheists aren't just atheists they are anti-religion, meaning they can not accept others beliefs. And, again, personally, I don't think most people that say they are atheists, truly are anyway.

There is nothing inherently wrong with feeling a sense of family or community or oneness in a common ground of belief.

This is not intended to be an endorsement of your choice of belief, however.

I think it's fine to be a proud atheist!

But having an "us against them" attitude is probably not the best thing to do.

I'm not an atheist - but I understand the atheist philosophy - and if it works for them to be the best people they can be - then great!

I am certainly not ashamed to be an atheist. I've never thought in terms of pride. But you've got me thinking.

I am a proud atheist. My proudness comes from the fact that I am not ashamed or afraid to say I don't believe in a god or gods.
