Whenever people come to visit our house, my mom always telling them, How I graduated high school when I was 16 years old and went to college.
My mom always telling people about my education, She make it seem like I'm going to be a doctor or big professional name.
I just want to become a dental assistant. But with her telling the whole town, if I become a dentatl assistant, every is going to laugh at my mom for what she was bragging about.
I told my mom to stop doing that but there she talks again. I know she is proud of me but I am NOT doing that well, in college so she puts a lot of pressure on me.

I also went to school for dental assisting. My mom brags on me too.
Listen just because its dental assisting don't think its not a huge responsibility. These people that come to your dentist office put their life in your hands. You are responsible for sterilization, X-rays, and other procedures that can be fatal. It takes an education to do these things. I remember going to Bryman College and learning how to gives shots and preform procedures that only a dentist is supposed to preform. In California you can do some of the procedures yourself. Don't ever put down dental assisting. Without you your dentist would be nothing! Dentist realize this too and appreciate you more.

You have to tell your Mom the truth on how you feel. Let her know the pressures are building up, and it is hard to keep up, because of the stress. If you want to be a dental assist. do it, It is your life and your future. Parents are not going to be around forever. You have to do what you think is best. And your not the one bragging, that is on her, and she will have to deal with that.

You're going to college. You graduated HS early. Even being a dental assistant is a big deal.

She's just being a mom - she's proud that you're a good kid and going to college. Stop worrying about other people think - just do your own thing; what counts is that you do your best.

Just calmly explain that you know she is proud and you are happy she is but you don't want a big title .What ever happens make sure no feelings are hurt and you are not pressured.This is very common if you are an only child.Just chill and think about what you are saying. You might try to say (not ruining her pride ) "I am going to be an _________''.I hope this helps

you shouldnt care about what everyone thinks about you. that is your moms fault for going around and bragging like that. just do what you want to do and the other people can deal with it.
