Since reheating mashed potatoes is a pain and tricky and they can end up tasting funny, I would make potato patties with the leftover mashed potatoes. Put the mashed potatoes in a medium to large bowl. Add an egg or two, mix, add minced onion or minced garlic and mix a bit then add flour. Add enough that your potatoes will be a bit stiff. Pat them out into patties, your hands maybe sticky, and then put them in a hot skillet to which a bit of oil has been added.. maybe cover the potato patty 1/4 to 1/2 of the way up the potato patty side. Cook on one side till brown. Carefully turn over and brown that side.. serve

You can put them on the stovetop, in whatever size pot is appropriate. Leave the lid on, so the moisture doesn't escape.

I would keep the heat on low, or medium-low. And stir occasionally.

If they get dried out, or a little too thick, you can add a small amount of water, in increments, until it's just right.

While you have it on the stove, you can do cool stuff, like stir in some cheese, while it's hot.

Try making a potato pancake. Take cold potatoes and add a little onion or cheese for a good effect. Put a small pattie(pancake)of mash and sprinkle some cool stuff on top. When you flip it the fun begins...By the time you saute it all you have to do is add cool stuff and flip it. It will be warmed up again! That works for breakfast or dinner.Have A Great Day...Rob

Of course you can! :) What I normally do is add a little bit of milk or cream when re-heating mashed potatoes on the stove. Mix it up on low and they'll be warm in no time. Make sure you keep mixing it so it won't burn. Good luck!

I have done this often. Mashed taters is my favorite. You can put them in a sauce pan, turn the stove top on med, pour in a dash of milk, or my favorite is margarine. Basically what you are diong is reconstituting. In other words, bringing back to life. But make sure you stir. Don't let the pan scourch.

you can...boil it, in a way.
put a porcelain bowl of the mashed potatoes onto a stand. Place the stand (preferably metal) into a pot of water (that is about 1/4 of the size of the pot, depending on your stand. make sure the water level isn't OVER the bowl). and...heat.

Yes!

Shape them into hamburger type patties and cook them on the stove in a little butter.

I love potato cakes!

since you said heat up it means it was already made (I assume) so to warm it up again just put them in a container with the lid on for about 1 to 3 mins in the microwave on High if you want
