Religions of the ancients actually aided scientific research. However for 1000 years, most of the modern Religions, Christianity speficially held back the world in a Dark Age. The greatest curse that mankind has ever had to suffer.

Religion is probably more beneficial than detrimental.

First, just about every culture has had a religion. That means that either 1) people need religions, or 2) people with religions are stronger than non-religious people and wipe them out easily.

Second, Religion and other positive social activities (like charity or education) often come together. I'm not sure whether Religion is tagging along with the other traits, or the other way around, but either way, it seems symbiotic.

Third, Religion tends to make people happier. Believe it or not, many people like going to church. And happy people make happy worlds!

Well It is probably a curse. It has caused many wars, and contributed to many millions of deaths.

But without it the mass of the world would be at a loss for what to do with their lives, and due to human nature im sure we would have would something else to kill each other over. So plus without it this forum would not be here and i wouldn't have so many people to argue with, so after careful thought its either neutral or possitive

It's been good at times, but then it has also been very bad. As for blessing or curse, those are terms that mean something to you, but nothing to me

I think it's been both good and bad in there own ways. Although I do believe religion brainwashes certain people into thinking one way is right, how could we actually know what exactly is truth? To believe in one thing and one way is being very stubborn.

Religion does help those certain people who need it, and i don't think theres anything wrong with belief in a god if it helps you get through this lifetime.

I married a christian women, but I don't believe in jesus, but she is a very good women and has very good morals, but it does bother me that believes in the bible blindly, but hey it's her opinion and she does have a right to it, but it's time to move on, so many people are being killed over religion and the so-called true god, there is so much hatred over religions yet so much love within ones church, yet again christians fight abortions, but it;s god's plan since he is all knowing, so in truth you are really fighting your own god who knows all and fighting his purpose of why this happens.

Curse.

The time and lives religious people have spent fighting against each other have all gone to waste. That's a curse.

Imagine all the torture, persecution, slaughter, discrimination, subjugation and abject misery of all kinds that has been solely the result of religious belief and religious differences. I think we'd be better off without that.
