there's this guy i really like and he's so funny and outgoing. we hang out at parties by ourselves, and dance like nonstop together at dances and have so much fun. he texts me too, but hardly ever talks to me at school. am i supposed to wait for him to talk to me at school? i thought about it and his ex was really flirtatious so i'm thinking maybe he didn't have to make the first move with her and now he doesn't know how to with me. or maybe he just doesn't like me enough. should i make an effort to talk to him at school?

Bingo. You got it. His ex went after him so he's used to waiting for girls to come to him. I made the same mistake for a long time until I realized that I get better g.f's by asking them out instead of always waiting for someone to come to me. But he's waiting so go make the first move and if he doesn't jump on it right away, be patient. He might be thinking of some other girl and he'll ask her out the day after you go talk to him and she'll shoot him down and then he'll be looking for some sympathetic arms to jump into so go after him but just ask him to hang out sometime and talk to him at school at first like a friend. Don't put a ton of pressure on it right away like he needs to walk all over the school holding your hand starting right now or you go away crying. That is a crash and burn for sure. Go for what you want but don't go all at once.

Nah, don't. He's in it for a Booty Call and doens't want to be seen with you in public, trust me because I have done the same thing.

talking to him is definitely the first step.
after that, just try spending more time around him in general.

i suggest tell him how you feel. if all of what you describe is true the he must like you or like being with you. I bet if you do he will be flattered.
