I think you should try talking to him in person. Because sometimes, it is just not worth it to only talk to him online. I've been there.

Just start of slowly, if you have a confidence issue just walk quickly past say hi and smile and everytime you walk past say a little more. You are obviously shy and i was like that in school there was a hot guy that i spoke to on the phone but couldn't talk to him at school. I just started slowly opening up and then we became really close and about a year later ended up together. Don't be in too much of a rush and if school is your only problem ask him out to a movie and start from there. Ask him heaps of questions on im about what he likes so that then at least you can start by asking him about his sport if he plays any. Good luck just go slow and let your confidence build up you'll be fine.

Hello~
What is your reasons for not being able to talk to this guy at school? Are you embarassed? Ashamed? or scared your friends will make fun of this notion?
Answer those questions and then think about this....
If this guy whom you really like and think is totally HOT is good enough to chat with you by IM then don't you think that he's the same person at school?
If you like this guy then you need to drop the drama and talk to him in person as you do in IM... If not you might find that one day even in IM he want give you the time of day you give him at school. Why? Because he might think your HOT too but if you don't show him that your that person he enjoy's chatting with online someone else might slip up and snatch this HOT guy right on away.
What should you do? Talk to him at school don't be so silly about this. Sometimes girls can mess things up so bad for themselves and miss dating that HOT cutie at school because of being silly, scared of what their so called friends will say or simply by being embarassed as if they are 5 yrs old or something.
Take a leap of faith and trust me on this!! Talk to this guy online and at school!!

Why can't you talk to him at school? Start talking to him at school or he won't know that you exist. If he gives you the brush off, then just keep talking IM and wait for him to come around.
I'm married now and know much more about teenage boys from what my husband tells me. They are just as nervous as us if you can believe that.

thats funny.. becuz the same thing happened to me. I couldnt talk to the grl i liked in person either only on aim. Now i deeply regret it. Talk to him in school. Say anything funny u can think of. Ask him about homework or sports

Maybe you should try calling him. You might feel more comfortable if the 2 of you weren't face to face. Or you could try going up to him at school with a bunch of your friends. That way you wouldn't feel as pressured as you might if it were just the two of you. Hope that helps!

and its just better talking to him if your not seeing him

with my gf
but now im ok around her and i talk to her at school allot!
