Yes, global warming has been happening for about 55,000 years. The earth has been warming since the end of the last glacial maximum. This is not due to man. This is a natural phenomenon.
How do the Global Warmers explain the end of the ice age?

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. This issue is 99% political, and an attempt to make the USA a socialist nation, and eventually communisim. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

It's probably going to be a combination of both warming and cooling if the temperatures continue to increase. Though it's highly debated how much human's interactions actually is causing this, one thing is for certain. This world has gone through several ice ages and prior to each one, there was a period of time that Carbon-dioxide levels increased resulting in increase of global temperatures. So we can say that it's not 100% our cause because it goes in cycles.

But that's not my point, what I want to bring to attention is that global warming if prolonged suggests global cooling. Part of the reason is that warming melts the ice caps resulting in a decrease of salt in the oceans. The weather revolves around ocean currents and the currents revolve around salt levels And that can lead to cooling, which put into perspective is worse. Worse because picture California not having those redwood forests because at one time it was a massive ice sheet that took their place. Granted that happened several thousands of years ago, ecosystems and agriculture are more effective under warm conditions not cooler. I'm definitely not implying that we should attempt to throw as much green house gas in the air as possible to keep our world warmer. What I am saying is that we should embrace what out environment has provided for us regardless if this is ultimately out of our control. This we shouldn't take for granted as we currently consume resources at an unnecessary amount it this is adversly effecting our economy and our ecology.

According to the last 10 years we are having global cooling. The average temperature has dropped 1 degree.

Actually, we are in a rare period of Global Cooling. Continental Glaciation is a rare event in the Earth's history, and ice is rare, even at the polar regions. Some geoscientists feel that we are still in the midst of Pleistocene glaciation because of this fact. The planet has experienced global warming. A mere 11,000 years ago there was about 2 miles of ice on top of Wisconsin, and it has receeded since then.

Yes, it's very well documented. All people who know what they're talking about agree.

A lot of people are confused because they think it means ten degrees per year -- it doesn't. It's slower.

But if it's, say, one per decade, and it would only take an average rise of 5 degrees to have a serious effect on many living things (which I recently read is what they are thinking), then this is a very serious problem.

There is no doubt among honest people who knwo what they're talking about that the CO2 we've been pumping into the atmosphere (and other stuff, as well) is the cause for this rapid an increase.

The ice caps are melting.

We know this.

Yes, and it's not natural. A vast amount of scientific data shows it.

Volcanoes emit less than 10% of what man does, and because of dust emitted, contribute less than nothing to global warming.

http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/how_volcanoe...

Nature does produce and capture a lot of CO2. But it's a delicate balance that we're upsetting by digging up carbon the cycle buried over many thousands of years and burning it real fast. This data shows what's happening. The little teeth are the carbon cycle doing it's thing (plants are more active in summer, less in winter), the huge surge up is us burning fossil fuels and kicking nature's butt.

And increased solar radiation is also rejected as a major cause by hard data.

People can talk, but massive amounts of hard data shows global warming is NOT natural. Which is why:

"the question of global warming was settled years ago for all but a few holdouts in the scientific community"

It sure seems like that.More violent weather, hotter days.
All though at times weather also cycles.I have seen a chart 4 yrs
or so ago that shows more rain one year, less the next drought Thrown in,hopefully its temporary.Remember the hole in the ozone? It closed up.

Looks that way... Whether it is man's fault or a natural cycle is the arguement .

to all the people that are dead already its very real

Is global warming a man-made menace?

not all there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants that ensure living conditions for all life forms

in Mexico right now thousands of people lost their homes and many are dead because of floods caused by Global warming

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification

in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use
