I am 14 and have never had a boyfriend before. All of my friends had boyfriends in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade...how could that be? I am afraid that I will never get a boyfriend. Is it okay for me to not feel ready or not want a boyfriend at this age. It seemed like I wanted one last year but not this year. What is the average age that people get boyfriends. My parents say that I am normal and they all had their first boyfriend or girlfriend at 16,17 and 18. I am kinda shy but once I get to know the person I am NOT. I just enjoy hanging out with my friends and family on the weekend. So many people tell me that I am normal but I don't beleive them. I also go to a small town and there is not a lot of guys to choose from. Sometimes I feel that I should be out there trying to find a boyfriend even though I don't want one. Is there something wrong with me?

Your friends "boyfriends" in the 3rd, 4th, 5th grades aren't truly boyfriends. You'll know for a fact when you are older that its nonsense at that age. I also had a "girlfriend" when I was in the 5th grade, but I see now that she was really just my best female friend. I could say that the earliest I had adult relationship feelings for a girl was around 15. You shouldn't worry about it. Its not about quantity...its about Quality.

The only thing that is wrong with you is that you are questioning yourself based on what your friends are doing. You should do things at your pace when you feel comfortable about them and not worry about what everyone else is up to. And as far as a shortage of guys is concerned, get good grades and go to college. There won't be any shortage then. And no, there's nothing wrong with you. More likely there is something right with you.

ok its like this there are no right age to get a boyfriend .but with that being said then there your morals i would think a proper age to start getting bf or gf would be atleast 9 th grade ,for two reasons one is people move away after grade school,then the other is you will know what you are prepared for

NO! seriously, having a boyfriend or girlfriend isn't all fun and games. and you're only 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!! don't feel weird about being different from your friends, there's just hasn't been someone worthy of a girl like you! wait it out as long as you can until you feel it in yourself that you want a boyfriend. oh yeah, and don't feel weird, you are one of the few of us who have better---and smarter--priorities!!! chin up, you'll get one when you want one!
