...then put on the paper gown, do you take off your bra? I don't know what to do in this situation. If I take it off, then my Dr. may think, "why did she take off her bra -- what a weirdo, nobody does that". On the other hand, if I leave it on, he may wonder why I didn't follow the nurses instructions....What to do?

My GYN does my breast exam. That is a "well woman" visit. I'm talking about the annual physical with my internist (primary care physician).

The nurse mean's everything. If not she would tell you to leave your bra on. It's because the Dr. will give you a breast examination & doesn't want to have your bra in the way.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to remove your bra because often your doctor will give you a breast exam. You could always leave it on if you feel more comfortable, and when the doctor comes, if he needs to, he will instruct you to remove your bra.

I usually take it off because the doctor does a quick breast exam as well as a pelvic.

I just leave it on, if they want it off, they'll ask.

What do you care what the doctor thinks? You're the patient, you're the one paying their salary by being there! They should care what YOU think!
