Most people, at least at some point in their life, have some sort of fear of death. It's a natural part of being human. You just have to accept the fact that all living things eventually die. My worst fear is also drowning so I can sympathize. You can't let it get in your way, though. Take a few swimming classes and make sure you'd know what to do if you found yourself in water. You can expose yourself to water and try and break your fear. You can't do that with death. Next year, I'm going to take a lifeguarding class. Try something like that. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable around water. I'm not saying you have to be a marine biologist but be comfortable around a town pool or two.
Depending on you're belief, it can only end in good. The two main ideas are....
After you die, you go to an eternal kingdom of some kind. Well, not much bad in that. Most are peaceful and you stay your days in happiness with friends and family accessible.
In some other religions or beliefs, or for more scientific believers, consciousness just ends, whether the soul goes onto another being, nature, descendants, etc, or not. There is no trouble, no grief, no depression, etc. It's like the difference between a night packed with dreams and a night when you sleep soundly.
Don't worry about it. You have a life to live and if you don't live it to the fullest, it's like you're already dead now. You can't let the shadows let you be taken away from the purple jacaranda trees that cast them ; ) Hope this helps!

Seriously, anything you are prepared for in life is a lot less of a deal. Don't wait any longer to tell the special people (make a list) in your life how you feel. Clean up all your relationships where appropriate by making amends (best to make a list of those you have wronged and what action would be appropriate to take. Note: if it would cause greater harm to others for you to contact the person, don't. Write a letter and say what you need to say, BURN IT without sending it, and forgive yourself.) Make sure you put order in your finances, and if you can't do all the actions right away, at least make a plan and put it on a calendar, and make payment arrangements with everyone you owe money to. If you have no intention or no ability to pay a debt, let the one you owe know that and ask forgiveness on the debt.
These things may not seem connected to your fear right away, but the reason many people fear death is because of their unfinished business. These actions will get you complete in the most key areas that would trouble you on your deathbed. Once done, then you really have nothing to fear.
Very few people have any say on when, where or how they will die. And if your life is cleaned up, it won't matter - you are just like everyone else who is enjoying their life.

The reason most people are so afraid of dying is because you do it alone. No one comes with you when you die and no one knows what to expect. Everybody's time will come eventually. What helps me get through it is saying a prayer or talking to someone. Maybe it would help if you talked to a minister or a therapist if you dont go to church. I hope I was able to help.

Accept it. I'n a million years from now when it is time for you to go you'll be ready by then.
If you don't accept it then you are dead already. Don't let this take up anymore of your precious mind space from this very moment on because face it your alive NOW. When you are dead, I'm not kidding about this but you wont feel it or know it, death will not hurt.
Cherish the time you have and make your goal in life to loved so much that you will be missed.

Death is an inevitable part of life. Many people, other than you, have fears of dying, so you're not alone. The key point to keep in mind is that life is about living! I know that might sound cliche, but it's the best approach to this sort of fear. Realize that everybody who's come before you, and everybody who will come after, will have to deal with death eventually. So let's see: birth takes one day, death takes one day, that leaves you about a zillion days in between. Make the most of them!

I think every body is afraid to die. I guess that is why people have faith in a higher power. If you surrender to your higher power there is a inner peace that you get. It goes from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. You will feel so much inner peace. Death will be the farthest thing from your mind. Trust me. Hit your knees and pray hon. He will be there for you when no one else is. I bet you will have a good night sleep.
Good night

dying doesnt hurt, when its your time to die, you will die. The universe is unfolding as it should and god has a plan for you. If you are afraid of dying ask yourself why, are you afraid you won't go to heaven? Or is it just leaving your body behind as your spirit soars upward? Try talking to a parent or event a priest, mabey that will help explain things.

You have a looong time on Earth. Keep yourself safe by having emergency numbers just in case something happens. You will die a peaceful death when you are very old, and by that time you will be ready to go to heaven or wherever else you think you will go. Enjoy life and have fun! You have a lot of years!

I have been afraid of death science the motor of the boat i was riding in hit a rock, i fell over the front, and it almost ran me over. My dad turned the motor off once he saw me fall but all i could think of was hitting it and being carved up, yeah gross way to die. I probably wouldn't have gotten on a boat again if i didn't need to ride one to get off the island we went to. But when i was riding back to my camp it reminded me of how much i love riding in my boat, so I'd just have to get over my fear. I did, but I'm sill afraid of upside down or fast roller coasters, that's the one I'm working on now. If you want to have fun in life you have to live, and that means risking dieing.

It's time to have some fun. Don't take life too seriously. Loosen up and get a little crazy. Go jog around the block...go see a movie..or try and be a comedian. That's what I do.
