You tell me it was founded on freedom and people supposedly died to make it a free country. Then you tell me about this place called prison that I will go to if I don't do everything that is in your "law book".
That is total hypocrisy and I choose not to believe in this "fairy tale" country of yours that is so cruel and judgemental that it won't let me do whatever I want.

Kwisatz Haderach - "I'd rather listen to a law book we've all agreed upon" - so in some countries most would agree you should be killed if you change religions, and in others you should go to prison if you indulge in free enterprise or engage in any non-state sponsored religion, or in WW2 Germany most would agree Jews should be exiled or exterminated.

It is as free as it can be without causing complete chaos. You can't expect complete freedom from any country, that would be ridiculous. America offers basic freedoms that many other countries don't.

I agree the simple statement is Hypocrisy. America is not a paradise. However, there are things here that are worth having.
We have long lists of laws, a lot of which are there for great reasons, others that are there for no good reason, and some that are there just because they can be.
All thes laws do not limit the freedom of americans. They enhance it. ALL law, divine, or manmade is about the rights a person ANY person has and how to protect them. The more laws a country has the more likely it is to be free. The chains of freedom is a well run Legal system that can deal apporprate punishment to those who would infringe on others rights.
Now I will say that america has many failings. After all it is a realatively young country. Slowly comeing into its 200+ years. It has gone from colony to world power because of these laws.
Some laws are a good thing. Else you have the chaos that is Darfur, the horrible conditions of most of Africa, the tyrany that is China. I would rather live in america than in Rawanda. After all here we do not worry about ethnic purges, only ethnic discrimination.

You're supposed to be allowed to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt other people. I'd like to hope that without laws people wouldn't run around raping or killing, but we have them in place to protect freedom.
How would you feel if you came to America where you had the freedom to look at women in bikinis and drink alcohol, but had to put up with it when some guy came over to rape you or steal your things? Total freedom has the potential to just become utter chaos. I'd rather listen to a law book we've all agreed upon than a book written hundreds of years ago by a guy who claimed god was talking to him.

Pick up a world map, and you will have all the proof you need.
While you are at it, point out where heaven and hell are on that map.
This was not a very good analogy.
