Another way, so others can view this same document in word is to protect it. If you go to "tools", then select protection, another window will open giving your protection options. It will also ask you for a password. This password will be the only way to unprotect the page. Try that out, good luck. Adobe writer is another program you could run to create PDF files, PDF files are for viewing documents only, they are not ment to be changed.

The best way to "lock" a word file is to turn it into a ".pdf" file.

I use it all the time.

Go to the Tools menu, Options. Click on the Security tab, then Protect Document. Use the wizard to protect your document.
