I went to paste a table and now it will not respond..the hour glass is just there...and it will not allow me to do anything...completely frozen...when you go to ctrl/alt/del it says the document is not responding...I am afraid if I hit end task ...for it-- the entire document will close down---is there anyway I can prevent this...stop the "paste table" or save the document....what will happen if i do end task....will it shut the document down...and will I lose everythin...thanks

If you End Task the program, it will definitely shut down the program and the document. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that the document is lost. Microsoft Word includes an autosave feature that is usually on by default.

If it is on, when you open up Word again, it will detect that it was not closed normally and bring up a special window showing the autosaved documents, or possibly even automatically reopen the autosaved document.

But if the program truly froze and isn't just taking a long time, that is your only option.

EDIT: It will NOT autosave when you force the program to close with ctrl-alt-delete. If autosave is on, it will have been automatically saving the document as you were working on it. The last time it did this could be a few seconds before you pasted the table, or it could be 15 minutes before. It depends on your autosave settings and your luck.

First i need to know what is the OS , if it is Windows XP Pro, u don't have any other go then to end the application. id u are Lucky MS Words must have saved your file every 5mins,so restart the computer and open the MS word if u r lucky the MS Word will display the doc...

If you force quit or even shut down Word will do an auto save as a safety backup feature....no worries!!!
