My camcorder only has ac adapters to connect it to the TV to play and record. Is there a device that I can purchase so that I can plug it into my computer and download to a DVD on my burner?

Certainly!! and it seems you got a good pc already with the right software & rewriter.

Options:
One is pci capture card or TV capture card - you need to install onto the pc.

Another is external digital converter - just connect cables to pc whenever you wish to download any videos into the pc, comes in many forms -
> Digital converter box or TV capture card - expensive option
> Camcorder (with analog-digital converter) - this is what they
call a pass-through device, needs additional firewire
or usb cable (depends on model) to connect to pc (pc
must have the needed port too)

Best option is to get a pci capture card - coz you'll be downloading it everytime you shoot footages.

Hope I gave you all the options so you could decide on your own (also taking into consideration the pc you have)

Glad to be of help!

Yes. All you need is a video card with coaxial or a/v inputs. You can also get a usb video capture device. Both of these can be found at Circuit City or Best Buy.

Your 8mm camcorder won't have the best quality - far from it. If you can afford it, get a DV cam with streaming capability for better quality and easier transferring. With a DV cam you can transfer via firewire directly to your computer without a video capture device.

You need a capture device, like the Dazzle, that will digitize the analog video outputted by your camcorder. These devices can connect to your computer by Firewire or USB 2.0, or you can buy a card with these functions to install inside your computer. These devices generally come with basic software that will enable you to turn that captured video into a DVD.

yes you require a video/audio capture device and software on your computer.
there are a number of USb devices out there to do what you want to do.
if this is a one time thing you might consider searching for a local shop that does transfers of this sort.

goto your local computer store (not bestbuy) and tell them what you want to do , they can offer some choices of whats required
