Why don't some people seem to "get it?"

Seems like it should be common sense.

Sure it's important to know the difference, but there is hardly ever any chance of confusion on the part of the reader.

Here's a case where it does make a difference:

You're assuming nature is dangerous.
Your assuming nature is dangerous.

It should be common sense. I suppose when people fail to use the correct word it is either because they are uneducated or just lazy. I vote that most of them are just lazy
