Catholics ARE Christians!!! In fact, for most of Europe for MANY Centuries they were the ONLYChristians.
There are several major points of difference bettween Catholic and Protestant theology (depending on the denomination!)
You would need to read up but examples are:
They allow prayer the Mary and the Saints to "interceed" between them and God. You are not allowed to worship them as some people will tell you but you are allowed to pray to them.
Their preists must not marry.
Theyare much more ceremonial.
They believe that good deeds help you achieve salvation (shared by many Protestants)
They believe confessing your sins to a priest will have them forgiven...and many others....
They also believe that as Peter set them up on Jesus orders that they are the ONLY true Christians (Though they kinda accept Anglicans)

Catholics are Christians. Catholicism is a division of Christianity (So is Lutheranism, the Methodist Church, Christian Brothers, many others). All Christians have basic beliefs in common (Jesus died for us, saved humanity, there are 3 persons in one God, etc.) but they have differing beliefs about other things.
If you have a specific question about their beliefs, add more details to your question. Catholics have many beliefs.

Basically the Catholic beliefs are that we believe in one God, life after death (heaven) and the forgiveness of sins. The difference from Christians is that Catholics ask Mother Mary to intercede for us to Jesus. I am not able to explain that things you need to know in one sentence but may i suggest you check with the local Catholic church if they offer basic course in Catholism (one yr course) and it is free of charge. Hope that helps.

Scholars agree that the name "Christian" was given to the followers of Christ. What about followers of Mary? They are called "Catholics". Christians have no need for a Pope but, Catholics do.
Question, Why do Catholics believe that Peter the Apostle was the first Pope when the word ``Pope'' doesn't even appear in Catholic Bibles?
We are taught to have a personal relationship with Jesus. How does the pope fit into that?
God gave the world the Holy Bible and not any particular church.

First off Catholics are Christians, they were the first.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day he arose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Kath = "according to" Holos or Holon = "the whole" in Greek. The Creeds of Christendom know of only "One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church." Thereby, by definition, if there is only "one" church and it cannot be divided, all "Christians" are, by default, "Kath-holikos".
Now - if you mean "Roman Catholic"...here...have fun:

There are so many.... We believe that Mary is holy, and that we should pray to her, hence the rosary. We have the sacraments, baptism, communion, reconciliation, confirmation, anointing of the sick, marriage... I can't remember them all.

Catholics for the most part take the religion or cult of the region they are in and adapt it and call it catholic. that way they get all the converts from all the areas don't miss any dollar bills, then tell them not to practice birth control so they get converts that way so that their river of money won't run out after all the more kids catholics have the more money the church gets.
Christians (real Christians) adhear to the teachings of the Bible and are being molded into the image of Christ.
However I would say close to 80 to 90 % of ppl who profess to be Christians are not.
