If you are sincerely looking for the truth, then you need to check more than one source. If you are looking for a religion that bases itself on the search for truth then try Unitarian Universalism. The website of the Unitarian Universalist Association is listed below. Here are the principles of the UUA.
>>
The Principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association
We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote
* The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
* Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
* Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
* A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
* The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
* The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;
* Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
The living tradition which we share draws from many sources:
* Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;
* Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion and the transforming power of love;
* Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;
* Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;
* Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit;
* Spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
Grateful for the religious pluralism which enriches and ennobles our faith, we are inspired to deepen our understanding and expand our vision. As free congregations we enter into this covenant, promising to one another our mutual trust and support.
The Purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association
The Unitarian Universalist Association shall devote its resources to and exercise its corporate powers for religious, educational and humanitarian purposes. The primary purpose of the Association is to serve the needs of its member congregations, organize new congregations, extend and strengthen Unitarian Universalist institutions and implement its principles.
The Association declares and affirms its special responsibility, and that of its member congregations and organizations, to promote the full participation of persons in all of its and their activities and in the full range of human endeavor without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, affectional or sexual orientation, age, language, citizenship status, economic status, or national origin and without requiring adherence to any particular interpretation of religion or to any particular religious belief or creed.
Nothing herein shall be deemed to infringe upon the individual freedom of belief which is inherent in the Universalist and Unitarian heritages or to conflict with any statement of purpose, covenant, or bond of union used by any congregation unless such is used as a creedal test.

I do not follow any religion. I follow Jesus, and I am currently attending regularly the non-denominational church where they keep the Bible as a center of the teaching and they lead people to a life changing connection with God.
Look around the church where you feel you have found a church home. You will not feel totally comfortable anywhere if you are not worshiping for God. Start your own church if you do not find one. The church is not a building, it is a community.

I have yet to find a church that follows the book properly. Some change the word, some alter the word, some define it in their own choice, some add, some take away.
So far I have just stuck with my own studies for he says to put nothing between you and him.
He also says he will guide you by your right hand to the answers you seek. I have found those as wise words for he has led me to many many answers I was seeking, w/ my right hand and the mouse.
Main thing....know his name is YAHWEH, YHWH. His name was removed by the church and God Lord was put in its place. They based it on one of the commandments but they altered the book, Rev. and Deuteronomy tells us not to do this.
From my research, JW is closest to the real thing but even they take a few items wrong and out of context. So even they are a false prophet.
So for now, I will do my own studies, for I know YAHWEH guides me on that quest and will not steer me wrong, where man can and will.

A very thoughtful question! Yessssss! Unfortunately, those that are true and uncomprimising don't go far. The one I'm thinking about invited all races, poor, anyone needing the message. The pastor used his own money to keep it going.
With nobody to be AGAINST they recieve no money to keep going. Unfortunate for the Lord, only those that pander for cash are the churches that make it!

There's "The Ethical Society". You might want to give that a try. It's like religion without a specific god.
And then there is Atheism, where you finally admit that everything you've been taught about God, the Bible, and Religion is a lie. It feels great when the burden is finally released.

If you are sincere about your desire to find a church which can answer a lot, if not all of your questions, I urge you to investigate the LDS church. Despite the many things which are said against it, they have many truths which help me put into perspective why I am here, where I am going, and who I am. I've found that as I've associated with the people of this church I have grown to understand more about myself and my god.

Sometimes Assembly of God or Church of God of Cleveland Tennessee. But they don't believe in eternal security which I do.
Baptist believe in eternal security, but some don't believe in the moving of the Holy Spirit.
We go to a non denominational church which believe both in Houston, Texas.
Hope you find one you like, ask the Lord to lead you to the right church and then be like the bereans and check out everything they say.
Sometimes it will be hard to find total agreement with your beliefs, but if the Spirit of the Lord is there he will lead you into all truth.
God Bless.

Jehovah's Witnesses spend many hours every week studying the Bible and in every country, in every neighborhood, they give their time and efforts without getting paid to teaching people about God's Kingdom in immitation of Jesus Christ. They teach the truth of the Bible, the truth about themselves and the truth about God. They truly try to live according to everything they have learned. May God bless all your efforts to contact them and see for yourself.

"...just about truth? Not ignoring things or lying about them so that they dont cause conflict with the big-selling ideas?"
You just described atheism in a nutshell.
Give agnosticism a 30 free trail and see how you like it. Then you might consider atheism once you warm up to the agnostic side. Your exact position is what has driven many to atheism.

The bible is replete with errors of fact, history, and conflicts with itself irreconcilably, therefore it cannot be the word of an omnipotent god. That being the case no case can be made for any judeo christian or Islamic Faith being the "truth" as well as any faith that asks one to suppress rationality and replace it with "faith".
